Description
Français : Tanks déchargés à la base aéronavale de Chantereyne, en bordure Ouest de la plage Napoléon à Cherbourg, les 3 et 4 novembre 1944. En arrière-plan une tourelle en béton d'une des deux grues pour hydravions, sabotées par les Allemands. Le premier tank est un M4A3E2 " Jumbo ", on y trouve aussi 2 M-4 " 105mm " à la gauche du M32 et au fond à droite du portique ainsi que plusieurs M4. Le T/5 James M. Austin de Dickson, Texas et un soldat élinguent à l'aide d'une grue une caisse à l'arrière du Sherman.
English: Medium tanks, immediately after being put ashore at Cherbourg in France, are serviced by Ordnance crew and dispatched to the front. T/5 James M. Austin, Dickson, Tex., is a member of one of these crews. Sgt Cullie Bolton, Palm Sprince, Calif., ordnance crew chief, inspects an M-4 tank that has just arrived from the States, servicing them so that they can move on their own power to the railroad which will take them to the front. It is part of a priority order that will be sped to the front from this French port.
