World First Aid Day is celebrated every year on the second Saturday of September across the world. The idea of World First Aid Day gained momentum in the late 19th century through the efforts of Red Cross founder Henry Dunant and others.[1] The first World First Aid Day was celebrated in 2000 at the initiative of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Each year, World First Aid Day’s primary message remains the same—"First Aid saves lives"—but the theme varies.[2][3]
