Jane Wickline (born July 1, 1999)[1] is an American comedian and actress. She is a featured cast member on Saturday Night Live for its 50th season.
Early life and education
[edit]Wickline's mother is Marcella "Marcy" Hardart, a pediatrician who previously worked as an assistant to SNL creator/producer Lorne Michaels,[2] and a manager at MTV.[3] Her father is Matt Wickline, a writer for Late Night with David Letterman[3] and In Living Color.[4]
The eldest of three siblings, she grew up in Los Angeles[5] and attended Santa Monica High School, where she played piano and trumpet in the school's band program. She graduated in 2017,[6] then attended Oberlin College, where she participated in sketch comedy and edited the college satire publication The Grape, earning a bachelor's degree in creative writing in 2021.[7][8]
Career
[edit]Wickline began making comedy videos in late 2020 when her semester was pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After graduating in spring 2021, she worked as a copy-editor in Philadelphia while continuing to post comedy videos on TikTok.[9] In 2021 she said in an interview, when asked about her goals, that she "would love to write comedy in some capacity."[10] Wickline tours as a sketch comedian.
She was a member of Stapleview, which was created in 2022 as a live sketch comedy show streamed on TikTok.[11][12] She appeared in the 2024 Mubi film My First Film.[5] By 2024, she was a regular figure on Brooklyn's alternative comedy scene, and was performing with Liva Pierce as the musical comedy act Dukes.[9][13]
She was announced in September 2024 as one of three new featured players on Saturday Night Live's 50th season.[14][5]
