His supporters are using the article for promoting him

[edit]

The article should not be written from sources inside Iran. None of them are neutral. They are all propaganda of the Iranian government. Twenty77 (talk) 02:12, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Descent in first sentence?

[edit]

According to the Lead manual of style his descent should not be mentioned in the first sentence. Drako (talk) 04:16, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What would be interesting is why he has an Armenian name. 2001:8003:A070:7F00:BCED:BC2D:D7AA:11F (talk) 06:16, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Ashkanhasebi: Varzesh3 is not a valid source. It is a dedicated sports website. Also, Masoud's professorship degree does not mean he is "the most literate president in the political history of Iran". -- Iri1388 (talk) 17:34, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This has been mentioned in most of Iran's official media. Even by one of the political analysts - Davar Mir - this is stated in this way: Dr. Pezeshkian, if elected, will become the most educated president in the history of the world with a specialist degree and a scientific rank of full professor. The only president in the world who is fluent in six living languages, namely Farsi, English, French, Arabic, Turkish and Kurdish. Ashkanhasebi (talk) 17:49, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Maternal Kurdish heritage

[edit]

Hello @HistoryofIran, The sources in the "Early life" section and the sentence "Iranian Azerbaijani Parents" clearly indicate Iranian-Azerbaijani and Kurdish origins. Could you please help me and add the man's Kurdish origins again in the article. I think this is about Pan-Turkish editing wars and a censorship of the Kurdish origin of the man of such a position as is currently taking place on German and Turkish Wikipedia. I look forward to a response, kind regards.

[1]: “He is of mixed Azeri-Kurdish ancestry and grew up speaking both languages, giving him broad appeal among the ethnic minority groups which make up more than a third of Iran’s population of 89 million.“ Qehreman63 (talk) 06:45, 20 August 2024 (UTC) Sock of WP:HEVAL Aintabli (talk) 09:05, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Qehreman63. Sorry, but I think it's best to make a edit request [1]. I don't want to be potentially involved in disputes about the ethnicity of a president of the regime (which means nothing, Khamenei still has all the power, and innocents will continue dying). HistoryofIran (talk) 13:29, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I can see he calls both his parents and himself as "Turk" in this video [2], so I guess that should be preferred. Not that it matters in the end. HistoryofIran (talk) 13:39, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Change "who has been the current president of Iran since 28 July 2024", to "who serves as the nineth and current president of Iran since 28 July 2024", for wording OffTheDeepEnd (talk) 14:05, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In general, "serves as" sounds less neutral than "is" to me, and therefore don't think that change should be made. I have no opinion on the rest of the changes. McYeee (talk) 20:04, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Iran-Iraq wartime service

[edit]

It's mentioned that "During the Iran–Iraq War (1980–1988), Pezeshkian frequently visited the front lines, where he was responsible for sending medical teams and working as a fighter and doctor."

This isn't sourced and I'm assuming is part of an official biography. I've never heard of a military person working as "a fighter and a doctor." What is fighter supposed to mean in this context? Anyone in uniform could conceivably be involved in fighting, but describing Pezeshkian as a fighter and saying he "frequently visited the front lines" requires more proof than an official biography of a politician from a government with low press freedom.

The sentence should be shortened to simply "During the Iran-Iraq War, Pezeshkian served in a medical capacity."ItsRainingCatsAndDogsAndMen (talk) 00:46, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Kurdish heritage

[edit]

Some sources say he is of Kurdish descent as well? Is this true? Either way I think it should be addressed in the Early life section. https://manage.rudaw.net/english/middleeast/iran/16092024-amp 2600:100C:A218:9A7B:2493:C393:D3CB:1718 (talk) 21:48, 15 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
