[edit]Hello,i see the link:https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/Purple115/v4/bd/03/6b/bd036bcf-79aa-6c3e-0a9b-a1f4291dccbf/pr_source.png/643x0w.png but logotype appeared the name “Superjet 100” dropping the name “Sukhoi” and symbol appear the logotype of United Aircraft Corporation? BeirutMa2021 (talk) 11:13, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
But why not dropping the name “Sukhoi”-Superjet 100 in Flightradar24? BeirutMa2021 (talk) 11:14, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I understand your question. Wikipedia editors don't know why Flightradar24 has decided not to change the name. Rosbif73 (talk) 14:03, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
Ok, the image https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/Purple115/v4/bd/03/6b/bd036bcf-79aa-6c3e-0a9b-a1f4291dccbf/pr_source.png/643x0w.png but logotype appeared the name “Superjet 100” dropping the name “Sukhoi” and symbol appear the logotype of United Aircraft Corporation BeirutMa2021 (talk) 14:09, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
- It does not matter. Flightradar is not the definitive reference of what is the most common name. You have to wait for this to happen. Probably not days. --Marc Lacoste (talk) 16:38, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
Yes, but see the link:https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/ra-89039 Aircraft name Sukhoi Superjet 100 and the site web UAC and Regional Aircraft-Branch of the Irkut Corporation product:"Superjet 100" What is the difference between Dropping and not dropping the name "Sukhoi"-Superjet 100? - Read previous replies. Stop posting unless quoting the reason to show you understood.--Marc Lacoste (talk) 20:07, 16 March 2021 (UTC)

- We've already said we're not going to remove "Sukhoi" from where it's already used now, and we've explained why. For some reason, you either refuse to accept the reasons, or you don't understand them, so you keep asking the same basic question over and over with various changes to your questions. This is becoming disruptive and needs to stop, regardless of the underlying reason. Thanks. BilCat (talk) 23:08, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
OK thanks BeirutMa2021 (talk) 07:51, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
- The User BeirutMa2021 has a point. When Douglas sell itself to Boeing, the MD-95 became the Boeing 717. I think he's says the same principle appleis. The Sukhoi is now an Irkut, no longer a Sukhoi. Henrilebec (talk) 22:00, 27 December 2022 (UTC)
- wp:commonname. "Boeing 717" is more common than "MD-95". Google shows 1.12M results for "Sukhoi SuperJet" against 1260(!) for "Irkut Superjet".--Marc Lacoste (talk) 10:59, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
- Recent verified news is urgently needed on this topic! It's so out of date it's a shame! Local blogs are way ahead, such as "Import-substituted Superjet makes its maiden flight. The prototype of the Russian SJ-100 short-haul aircraft manufactured by the Yakovlev Production Center in Komsomolsk-on-Amur has made its maiden flight [Aug 28'23]. The tests confirmed stable operation of all domestic systems, controllability and stability of the airplane in the air." Are any Wikipedians able to keep us up to date on this topic?Henrilebec (talk) 06:18, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for volunteering. I look forward to seeing your additions. BilCat (talk) 06:43, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
- Foreign blogs and news outlets are full of good information, but not considered "reliable sources" in Wikipedia. So we have to wait for American sources to report on what's happening, but they don't (or won't). Also I don't know how to find American sources for Yakovlev production reports. Any Russian or Iranian information would be deleted, so it is not worth editing. But the development of this aircraft and similar small aircraft is still rapidly evolving regardless of American media silence. Henrilebec (talk) 08:04, 31 August 2023 (UTC)
- Sources are not forbidden just because they aren't in the English language - for example most English-language blogs won't pass as WP:RS either. If you have sources then bring them here to the talkpage or to WP:RSN where they can be evaluated. Also note that for things like first flights of the modified, Western-part free version of the Superjet, it shouldn't take that long for the news to be reflected in reliable sources.Nigel Ish (talk) 08:12, 31 August 2023 (UTC)

Rebranding
[edit]Irkut has decided to rebrand as Yakovlev, with the Superjet to be redesignated SJ-100 (see ref. in article). It is not clear, however, whether the aircraft will be known as the Yakovlev SJ-100 or just plain SJ-100. I suggest we hold off on renaming the article until that becomes clear. Rosbif73 (talk) 19:46, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- The SJ-100 name is far from common yet, and we often don't rename aircraft articles when the name/designation and/or company name changes. However, if there is a consensus to rename the article, it will most likely be moved to "Yakovlev SJ-100", per WP:AIR/NC naming conventions, which says to include the manufacturer's name. BilCat (talk) 23:23, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- Is it permitted to list sources that keep up-to-date with industry changes like this? Flightglobal.com, for example, has daily trade information on topics like the transition of Sukhoiu to Irkut to Yakovlev. Trade sources are sometimes helpful when to topic gets muddled - and news of Russian aviation industry these days is often muddled. Henrilebec (talk) 06:04, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
- Sources like Flightblobal are reliable and can be used. MilborneOne (talk) 11:47, 31 August 2023 (UTC)
- Just out of interest in the industry the term SJ-100 has been used for a long time as shorthand for the aircraft. MilborneOne (talk) 11:47, 31 August 2023 (UTC)
