I look forward to seeing your photos of this breed! I have a book that has some information on the breed that can be added to the article as well but just haven't gotten around to adding it yet. Reconrabbit 20:23, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

They are up on the page now :D ApteryxRainWing (talk) 12:21, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps too puzzling?

[edit]

"Yap Central Station" for Talk and "Crimes I am responsible for" for Contributions are perhaps too puzzling for other editors to understand. I recommend you change to Username|Talk|Contributions. David notMD (talk) 14:27, 22 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Aw no fun allowed :(
but I fixed it so we're good now I hope ApteryxRainWing | Talk | Contributions 14:35, 22 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Also, if you are getting pinged or see any more messages from you know-who, I would suggest just ignoring them, as it will never be worth your time (in regards to this issue I guess, but I doubt any further messages will be unbaised and unrelated)! L.E. Rainer 00:52, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Article quality

[edit]

See Wikipedia:Content assessment for how articles are quality- and completeness-ratings on their Talk pages. (Redout is Start). Stubs and Starts are clearly not what they could become, but that is not grounds for deletion. Movie, book and game articles allow for descriptions of plot or gameplay without referencing, because as you asked at Teahouse, that information is from what the article is about. 'Original research' would be things like proposing that what happened in an author's life shaped the book's plot or character. Or you as an article editor comparing one video game to another. Regarding welcomes

[edit]

Hi there, thanks for being a friendly face and taking the time to welcome some of the newcomers recently
Just a small reminder about adding signatures to welcome messages, as I've noticed you've been manually inserting welcomes without adding your signature: using Twinkle can make the process easier, as it automatically adds your signature at the end. Including your signature helps let newcomers know who welcomed them and who they can reach out to if they need help, so it'd make sense to include it.

Thanks again for being apart of the Welcome Committee! Synorem (talk) 13:21, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

on my end, my signature shows up. Does it not appear for you? As for Twinkle, I don't trust myself with Wikipedia bots yet, I've only been here for a few months ApteryxRainWing🐉 | Roar with me!!! | My contributions 13:37, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's too early yet

[edit]

But at some point you might want to consider Wikipedia:Growth Team features/Mentor list. Happy editing! Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:45, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I took a look at it and it sounds pretty interesting, but I am not sure how that would work with my schedule. Believe it or not, I'm only 16 and I have to put up with all the typical woes of being a high schooler such as exam season and my computer attempting to melt itself ApteryxRainWing🐉 | Roar with me!!! | My contributions 16:33, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Welcomes

[edit]

Hey! I noticed you've been welcoming new users, which is always good - though you may want to be a bit more discerning with your welcomes. For example, GuardantDigitalComms (whose username is against username policy as an WP:ORGNAME, and whose first edit was a COI edit to Guardant Health), an ideal welcome may have been Template:Welcome-COI. Try to focus on welcoming constructive contributors and checking their contributions prior to welcoming them, and if their contributions are problematic, using a more appropriate welcome informing them of policy. I've done the exact same thing before, so it's not a huge deal! I just wanted to let you know. Twinkle, if you use it, has a wide variety of welcome templates for more potentially problematic users. I'd suggest using that in the future. jellyfish  17:48, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Alright thank you. I admit that i've been a bit careless when welcoming people, I just look for redlinked talk pages and bluelinked contrib pages in the user creation log and leave the template message there, it's nice mindless work. I'll keep an eye on what exactly has been contributed from now on ApteryxRainWing🐉 | Roar with me!!! | My contributions 17:50, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's all completely fine! I'm of the opinion anyone who's not a blatant vandal or otherwise WP:NOTHERE individual should be welcomed. It's just a matter of pointing out things in Wikipedia policy that may not be obvious to a newcomer, especially WP:COI, WP:NPOV, WP:RS/WP:OR, etc.! Helps get them off to a stronger start. :) jellyfish  17:51, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I made a sort of template-ish thing I copy and paste into new users' talk pages. What do you think of it? does it provide the information a new user would need? I wrote it in a way where you can give it to a user without them having any contribs ApteryxRainWing🐉 | Roar with me!!! | My contributions 18:31, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. It looks good, personal, and non-mechanical. Regarding the contribs thing, it is generally/commonly agreed upon not to welcome users without any contribs. Again, nice work with the message. It covers everything that a newcomer might need. If you are not fond of pre-existing templates, I suggest making similar message for COI, and autobiography editors. —usernamekiran (talk) 19:05, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alright. I'm not against templates per se, but I am absolutely too dumb to use WikiText and I have no idea how to submit a template for review. I'll definitely make some other templates on that subpage for COI, autobiography, SPAs, etc. ApteryxRainWing🐉 | Roar with me!!! | My contributions 19:21, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Usernamekiran I added some other templates to the list, what do you think? the only thing I really changed was the intro paragraph for each one ApteryxRainWing🐉 | Roar with me!!! | My contributions 12:44, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed with what Kiran said! Looks good, and keep up the good work. :) jellyfish  19:12, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! It's nice to know that I'm finally doing something helpful here :D ApteryxRainWing🐉 | Roar with me!!! | My contributions 19:22, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, ApteryxRainWing,
Please be sure you don't welcome editors who are blocked. You welcomed a few today. Some were blocked AFTER you posted your Welcome message so those are okay but some were already blocked when you welcomed them. You can tell whether an editor is blocked because there is usually a message to that effect on their User talk page or look at their Contributions and there should be a big pink message at the top if an editor is blocked with the reason why they were blocked. I know you work fast when welcoming editors but please consider checking both of these pages first. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 07:27, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
is it possible that they were blocked as I was pasting my message in? all the talk pages I left templates on had the generic "leave the first message on (user)'s talk page" ApteryxRainWing🐉 | Roar with me!!! | My contributions 20:05, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion

[edit]

Hello, ApteryxRainWing,

I read your user page about wanting to be a storm chaser and your question about tornadoes. It might be very engaging for you to get to know the editors at Wikipedia:WikiProject Weather. The editors who work on weather, particularly tornadoes, hurricanes and storms, are very active and really have their own community on Wikipedia. If that's a subject that interests you, you could probably get some good ideas from them on articles that could use some copy editing and attention. Good luck! Liz Read! Talk! 07:37, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

We'd love to have another editor helping out, most weather editors are inactive in the winter months because, well... winter. All of the other editors at WPW are super friendly aswell, and would love to guide you through writing/editing weather articles. :) EF5 21:24, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@EF5 I already think I'm in WPW, if I did it right. I'm bad with the source editor so I'm not sure if it worked. Do you guys have a list of articles that need work? Also, since I can upload my own photos to commons, do you guys perhaps want any good photos I get this chase season? I'm spending my whole spring break off school with some buddies and we're gonna go to Little Rock and wait for the weather to try something. A Megalodacne for you!

[edit]

This is the closest thing to a dragon I could find in the templates list!

As a weather enjoyer myself (see this userbox I created), I would like to thank you for your assistance with WikiProject Weather. Happy editing! Cmrc23 ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ 16:05, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
