ITN recognition for 2024 Central European floods

[edit]

On 20 September 2024, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article 2024 Central European floods, which you updated. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page. SpencerT•C 04:03, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Can you help to remove WP:RECENTISM violation and summarise August 2024 and September 2024 sections of Israel–Hezbollah conflict (2023–present). You can remove any unnecessary content added by me. Pachu Kannan (talk) 09:29, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies for the late reply, I am stingy on reverts lately in the article due to 1RR but the previous advice on Israel-Hamas War also applies here. Also suggest you find definite news articles rather than liveblogs to minimize the risks of excessive weight and having to resort to long-winded quotes. Hello. Just a question. Are you a member of the FB group of WP:TAMBAYAN, known as "Philippine Wikimedia Kapihan Network"? If not yet, you may want to join the group (though still it's in your discretion if you prefer to join or not). JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 04:45, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request

[edit]

Hello.

In the 2024 Hezbollah headquarters strike article, can you actually display the specific bomb Mark 84 bomb with its name, which has been obscured in the Wikilink under the label "2,000-pound bombs", when the other bunker buster bombs like BLU-109 bomb are displayed with their names in the article?

(Also, if units have to be displayed, both the metric and imperial units must be displayed in Wikipedia articles, not one or the other. 95% of the world population use only the metric system.)

Thank you. Oirattas (talk) 14:34, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'll see what I can do. I am more of a political rather than a technical editor though. Borgenland (talk) 14:37, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the reply. It is not at all a difficult technical or a controversial political issue, I requested. Only the simple removal of the general label "2,000-pound bombs" covering the specific Wikilink Mark 84 bomb. Different types of bunker buster bombs can have that same weight. Because the article is protected, I cannot do it. Oirattas (talk) 14:45, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

List of terrorist incidents involving railway systems

[edit]

Hi, I would like to clarify that the 2019 Yuen Long Attack in Hong Kong was not a terrorist incident; rather, it was a riot stemming from the 2019 Hong Kong Extradition Bill. The mobs involved in the attack were convicted of rioting but not of any terrorism-related offences. Below are some news articles for your reference:

https://hongkongfp.com/2024/04/05/hong-kong-accountant-found-guilty-of-rioting-after-yuen-long-mob-attack-in-2019/

https://www.thestandard.com.hk/breaking-news/section/4/192740/Man-arrested-three-years-after-Yuen-Long-mob-attack,-to-appear-in-court

In addition, the HKSAR Government has legislation regarding terrorism, which is specified in Cap.575 United Nations (Anti-Terrorism Measures) Ordinance. Below is the content of the ordinance:

https://www.elegislation.gov.hk/hk/cap575

As such, the attack was not a terrorist incident and it should not be included on the list. HelenRForeman (talk) 01:25, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The attack has been included in the article for as long as I can remember and I reiterate that only a consensus of the editors in the list’s talk page can remove the entry. Not a decision of the HK government. Borgenland (talk) 01:46, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have expressed my views on the list's talk page, but I have not received any replies from the other editors. Aside from the fact that the incident is not related to terrorism, the number of dead and injured shown on the page is also incorrect, as there were no fatalities. If there are no objections from the other editors, I will remove the incident from the list. HelenRForeman (talk) 02:18, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The lack of replies may not necessarily signify support for your proposition. And the faulty casualty list does not imply reason alone for the entry to be removed. Borgenland (talk) 10:15, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Older typhoon seasons

[edit]

As a result of a message on my talk page. Me and Hurricanehink are trying to get people to help make older typhoon season articles. As you are a major contributor in recent typhoon articles, and other major typhoon articles, I think you might be interested in tackling this. Father of All Bombs

[edit]

Thanks for removing that junk. It’s just likely a close up of a KAB-3000. I just can’t imagine such a weapon being deployed from anything short of a cargo plane. Jjmclellan82 (talk) 11:09, 5 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's more of sourcing for me per WP:NEWSWEEK. The article also said it wasn't the first time Russia claimed to have dropped a KAB in Ukraine. Borgenland (talk) 11:12, 5 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

List of explosions

[edit]

I don't understand why you remove explosions from Poland, having sources and being relevant. For example the explosion in Gdansk in 1995 with 22 dead or Świebodzice in 2017 with 6 dead, among others. However, for example, explosions in Italy that are not very relevant or similar in deaths are still included. List of explosions DWD2007 (talk) 14:38, 14 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I carried out a cleanup of the page when it became bloated with entries of dubious notability, not just in Poland per WP:INDISCRIMINATE. For the second revert, you inserted poorly-sourced articles with utter disregard of WP:WINARS. For your latest entry, I did not remove anything but noticed that you do not take into account the grammatical style prevalent throughout the article, particularly having to bludgeon the name Poland when the flagicon suffices and inserting redundant death tolls. Borgenland (talk) 14:43, 14 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I also recall you inserted a deliberate attack. But then again if you want to have these addressed, you should try to gain more opinions and/or consensus in the talk page. Borgenland (talk) 14:46, 14 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I'll try to do better, thanks for the answer. DWD2007 (talk) 14:46, 14 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please can you stop adding this template to pages when {{WikiProject Crime and Criminal Biography}} is already present? Terrorism is a task force of WikiProject Crime and Criminal Biography, so it should not be added as a separate template. Thank you — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 17:37, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

With all due respect, wasn’t the creation of WP Terrorism supposed to mean it was already a separate topic in itself? Borgenland (talk) 17:39, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes it was originally, but since 19 October WikiProject Crime and Criminal Biography/Terrorism task force is a task of WikiProject Crime and Criminal Biography. There was a discussion on the talk page about this — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 17:44, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your edit on Andriy Kostin! Much appreciated it is, but unfortunately not entirely correct. Kostin will be serving as Prosecutor General of Ukraine until the parliament of Ukraine will dismiss him. The fact that he tended in his resignation on 22 October 2024 does not mean he immediately left the post. This is the way it goes in Ukraine; I know it goes different in other countries, so I understand your train of thought. I hope this was the first time your train of thought was wrong. — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 17:27, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I understand the Verkhovna Rada ultimately decides on things. I’m just waiting for the approval to amend the info. Borgenland (talk) 00:29, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
