Matador Network page review
[edit]Thanks so much for reviewing this page. Would you be able to highlight specifically the language feel is promotional, advertorial or otherwise not neutral? This was written very carefully to be in Wikipedia's neutral style. There is no content that cannot be directly traced to one of the many high profile sources that are cited. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Caffrey, Neil (talk • contribs) 17:21, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hi! The emphasis on numbers of followers, visitors, etc. in the lead, with things like
is the largest independent online travel publisher
definitely give a promotional aspect. This whole paragraph too:After bootstrapping the company on $11,000, Borden scaled Matador Network into a seven-figure business and one of the largest travel brands on the web. Matador has thousands of travel writers, adventurers and influencers within its network, and has evolved from a branded content business into a full-fledged production studio making custom content for brands, hooking them up with its influencer network and distributing it to its millions of readers and social media followers.
Also, emphasizing likely non-notable rankings likeFast Company named Matador Network to its 2024 list of Most Innovative Companies
, or some corporate keywords likea revamped platform
, add to the promotional tone of the article. Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 17:49, 11 October 2024 (UTC)

[edit]As you can see in the history, there is no point at all in rolling back a troll unless you can block them. Operation Identification Flag
[edit]Hi @Chaotic Enby. Thanks for your review of the new Operation Identification page. I revised the page attempting to respond to your {primary sources} tag: (1) I added a new secondary source (ref #1); (2) I added existing secondary sources as refs (from the FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin journal) to some statements that were previously just see, e.g.-type citations to primary sources; and (3) I revised some of the article language to more accurately reflect analysis in the secondary source rather than relying solely on a primary source as a see, e.g.-type citation for analysis. I believe the article is now supported by appropriate secondary source citations and I tried to eliminate any analysis based solely on primary sources, but I welcome your additional discussion. If you still have concerns that prevent removing the {primary sources} tag, please help me understand which sections of the article you're concerned about. Thanks! Elindstr (talk) 16:57, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Elindstr Thanks a lot! This is definitely an improvement, although the FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin journal is still not fully independent (being also part of the FBI), and completely independent sources would be ideal. Also, the primary sources (for their respective claims) to the National Neighborhood Watch could be replaced by secondary ones, and it would be great to see if a published study reports the claim currently sourced to a letter by Allend Voss to the Attorney General. Still, it is already much better! Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 22:24, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
- I exhaustively searched and located secondary sources and I've now taken the article as far as I'm interested. I'd like to remove the flag now and move on. OK with you? Elindstr (talk) 00:59, 14 October 2024 (UTC)

is clearly not neutral, and a lot of the article in general has a "corporate speak" tone – you can try to reword it by looking at other articles on similar initiatives! Also, it would be good to clarify your connection with User:Alnjms, as you both created the same page at a close interval. I noticed your comment in an ANI discussion about "109 countries" but I couldn't find a reference to that phrase on the article that you linked to. If it is not too offensive, could you tell me what this phrase is referring to? Because I'm clueless. Liz Read! Talk! 02:56, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Liz: Hi (since they haven't gotten back, I'll just quickly answer). The number 109 is white supremacist numeric shorthand for an antisemitic claim that Jews have been expelled from 109 different countries. (Sources on this are found here, here, here, here, here and here). Basically, it's never a good number when used in a context relating to Judaism. MemeGod chat 14:27, 1 November 2024 (UTC)

Question from Limelightmedia1991 (18:42, 5 November 2024)
[edit]Hello! How can I create a page? --Limelightmedia1991 (talk) 18:42, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Limelightmedia1991 Hello! The best way is to start by making sure the topic is notable. While there are quite a few complicated guidelines at Wikipedia:Notability, a much simpler overview is given at Wikipedia:42. Find a few in-depth references from independent reliable sources (interviews or press releases aren't considered independent for our purposes), so you can write the article from the information they give you. Then, when you feel like writing, you can start with a draft. For that, you can go to Wikipedia:Articles for creation, and read down to the "Click here to start a new article" button. Then, go through a few clicks to start a new, empty draft. When writing it, you can read Wikipedia:Your first article as a reference point. Once you have posted your edits and feel the article is ready, click "Submit" on the banner on top of it, and a reviewer will check the article for it to be published! The article Tulu'i Islam has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Unreferenced and unimproved almost 15 years. Tagged as not notable for 12 years.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Bearian (talk) 03:30, 26 November 2024 (UTC)

Query
[edit]Hello, First of all I would like to say that..Your Userpage is amazing and is among one of the most beautiful User pages I have ever came across. Secondly, There is a YouTuber named Nitish Rajput. He is very prominent in India. A year ago, an article was made about him but was deleted through PROD. Maybe at that time he wasn't notable. But still, then also some users in the AfD discussion had said that he might be notable after some time. Although, the article was then deleted. As an AfC reviewer and an experienced editor I would like to request you to please invest some of your valuable time and check if now he's notable or not and would it be justified to create a draft on him and submit it for AfC. I am not able to figure this out by myself and therefore requesting you to do so. As you know, It takes quiet long time to create any draft or article. So, it would be very helpful for me to know that if it would be good to create the draft or not. AstuteFlicker (talk) 11:06, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hi! Thanks a lot for the compliment! Unfortunately, I am not the most knowledgeable person regarding Indian sourcing, and I do not speak any of the languages of India, so I might not be the best at searching for sources in this domain. If you wish, Wikipedia:New page patrol source guide#India might be helpful regarding which sources can help provide notability, although it is far from complete. Question from Senior manchi (10:18, 2 December 2024)
[edit]How do I create an article --Senior manchi (talk) 10:18, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Senior manchi Hi! For new users, the best bet is to go through the articles for creation process! The first thing you'll want to do is look for sources about the article's topic, and use the information from these sources to write a draft, which you can then submit for it to be reviewed! A common pitfall for new editors is to write the article backwards, first writing it and then looking for sources to support it, which is often much harder to do. There is more information out there at Help:Your first article if you want! Good luck! Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 10:28, 2 December 2024 (UTC)

Pygsuia being changed to a Genus?
[edit]I understand that Pygsuia Biforma is the only species in its genus, but I don't understand why that means that an article about it should be changed so that its title and description are about the genus and not the species. This happens in a lot of taxonomy articles and was curious about the reason. Haplodiploid75 (talk) 12:04, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
- Usually, when a genus has a single species, having both articles would be redundant, and by convention the article is placed at the genus level (WP:MONOTYPICFAUNA). This is really just a matter of convention to keep things consistent, and the convention itself is ultimately pretty arbitrary (for instance, French Wikipedia places the article at the species level, if I remember correctly). - Okay. Makes sense to keep it then. I’ll add a line about this being the only species in the genus so the other stuff makes sense Haplodiploid75 (talk) 12:24, 4 December 2024 (UTC)

Tagging Perseus and Topos texts as AI generated
[edit]Please do not tag citations from Perseus or Topos texts as AI generated. They do not generate anything, nor use AI to translate their texts. As they state here (Perseus) and here (Topos text) they simply collate works in the public domain to be accessible to modern users. I saw you used AWB to make those edits, so I think perhaps you might want to review those edits that have been made to make sure there aren't any more mistakes. AD Vortigern (talk) 12:46, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
- @AD Vortigern The tagged source was https://topostext.org/work/860, which was explicitly translated with GPT4. To quote the source itself:
Scholia to Lycophron's Alexandra, marginal notes by Isaak and Ioannis Tzetzes and others, from the Greek edition of Eduard Scheer (Weidmann 1881) (downloadable at archive.org, translated by CHATGPT 4.0 with more speed than accuracy, with prompts and work-arounds by Bruce Hartzler and a few manual improvements (?) by Brady Kiesling. This text has 2332 tagged references to 543 ancient places.
Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 12:55, 10 December 2024 (UTC)- Ah, I see a problem then. The translations are accurate enough, << Compare TT's version of §184: ("Skyrian dragon" refers to Neoptolemus because of his murderous and bloodthirsty nature; for according to some, Neoptolemus was raised only in Skyros (90 13), but according to me, he was also born there from Deidamia, the daughter of Lycomedes. Skyros is one of the Cyclades islands.) with the translation in S. Hornblower's Lykophoron: Alexandra : (The phrase "Skyrian dragon" is referring to Neoptolemus due to his violent nature, and the fact that he was born on Skyros, one of the Kykladian islands. I have also heard that he was born there to Deidamia, the daughter of Lycomedes.) >>, but as much as that is the case you're right and they have unambiguously used ChatGPT to help them translate. My issue is that the tag you provided makes it seems like the two sources (TT & Perseus) are unreliable, when they very much aren't. As you're clearly more well versed in Wikipedia's policies than I am, could you perhaps change the tag to something less ambiguous? AD Vortigern (talk) 14:34, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
- To be fair, that's a point where two policies intersect in a less-than-productive way. We're supposed to put the citation maintenance tags outside the footnote itself, so potential issues are immediately visible to readers, but that is not practical when the footnote bundles several references as it makes it harder to see which one is the issue. I don't see an obvious way to have both work together, but I'm open to solutions! Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 15:18, 10 December 2024 (UTC)

Your comment on article
[edit]Hi! You reviewed a draft I made. I edited the language. I do not agree with the point you made here a bout Forbes article. I do not see any issues with it and would like to keep it. As you can see, there are many other articles with an extensive coverage. A Forbes article provides a good overview of the designs. When you open it, you can see it is a prominent contributor in the filed for Forbes. Would appreciate if you can take a look. I edited text, because it was made with ai before. I asked it to gather the highlights about the designer.
Draft:Corina Larpin Moondust534 (talk) 19:46, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Moondust534 Hi, thanks a lot for looking at the article again. It is strongly suggested to write the article in your own words, and you should at least check if what the AI outputs is correct (as everything you publish, including AI-generated, is your responsibility). Regarding Forbes, it isn't my opinion but the consensus of the community (WP:FORBESCON) that articles published by Forbes Contributors, even "Senior Contributors", rather than Forbes Staff, are usually not reliable and do not count for notability. Question from Fxvd dbbddnndn (10:12, 12 December 2024)
[edit]How do you do that? --Fxvd dbbddnndn (talk) 10:12, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
- For the record, noting that this user has been blocked as a sockpuppet. I was genuinely very confused as to how to answer, so that solves it at least. Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 12:50, 17 December 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hi What Decilend Joe John Michael (talk) 12:41, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Joe John Michael Hello! Your draft was nearly empty (only an infobox) and did not provide context or reliable sources (for instance, film reviews) demonstrating the notability of the film. Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 12:49, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
