A barnstar for you!

The Special Barnstar
Congratulations for promoting 1975 Holton-Arms School senior prom to the Main Page! It is one of the most interesting articles I've read at DYK in a long time. Happy editing, MX () 14:51, 20 February 2019 (UTC)

DYK for Mobile field force

On 25 February 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Mobile field force, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that, in the United States, mobile field forces are used by police to deal with civil disorder by targeting "agitators"? You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Mobile field force), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Proposed changes to Ronald J. Daniels Wikipedia entry

Hello, Chetsford.
I submitted proposed changes to the Ronald J. Daniels Wikipedia entry back on February 13 and received your feedback on February 16. Thank you so much for your insight; it is good to know that the proposed changes are closer. I was hoping you might be available to help me understand how close the requested changes are to approval so I can submit a new request

First, I completely understand that the external links are in violation and will remove all references prior to submitting. The second point referenced was connected to the neutral point of view policy - was the example you provided the only clear violation, or should I rework the rest of the requested proposed changes and take this into consideration?

Thanks again. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated and very helpful!

Lmcuster (talk) 19:35, 1 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Lmcuster - I think with the exceptions noted your proposal is in very good shape, though I might draw your attention to these items as well:
  • "Under Daniels’ leadership, the university has worked to strengthen the quality ..." - This is making a lauditory claim about Daniels which, if sourced to an WP:INDEPENDENT source would be fine but it's sourced to hub.jhu.edu which I don't believe has the capacity to be critical of Robert Daniels; ergo, it will only publish complimentary information and should not be used to cite declarations of Daniels' achievements at JHU.
  • Quotations need to be credited to the person or outlet which originated them (e.g. the National Post quote).
  • Throughout his tenure, Daniels has spearheaded the creation of a number of entrepreneurial enhancements for the Johns Hopkins community... Unless I'm missing something, none of the four sources used to support this mention Daniels. While they establish that entrepreneurial enhancements have occurred at JHU, they don't credit Daniels for spearheading them (I only scanned these so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong).

Rock Candy Media

If you don't mind, I'd like for you to please revisit the Rock Candy Media article and ongoing AfD. I certainly acknowledge there are a lot of Austin Business Journal sources, and I've found quite a few more via Google searching and LexisNexis. I've also found a book source, an in-depth overview published by Digiday, and other sources, some of which I've incorporated into the article's text, and some of which are simply listed on the article's talk page for future consideration. I hesitate to spend too much time rescuing an article that's nominated for deletion, but I've worked to update the article a bit since there were few updates since 2016.

Thanks for taking another look and sharing comments/feedback. ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:35, 8 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Another Believer - I just replied in the AfD. I haven't had a chance to look at your comments in detail but I have full faith they address whatever concerns I have. I'm out at the moment but will come back to withdraw the AfD as soon as possible. Chetsford (talk) 21:01, 8 March 2019 (UTC)
Sure, I'd like to think the additional sourcing helps but I'll let you and other editors decide. Happy editing! ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:08, 8 March 2019 (UTC)

Olivia Jade

I was in the middle of creating Olivia Jade literally minutes ago and I go back to see it fully created! Teamwork makes the dreamwork. Thanks for doing the hard part because I was literally saying to myself “God I don’t want to have to do this but it needs to be done.”Trillfendi (talk) 23:27, 14 March 2019 (UTC)

Haha --- Trillfendi I was very leery about creating it because, first, it's gross, and, second, it seemed on the verge of WP:BLP1E, but on further examination it appears she's left a trail of news clippings over the last couple years that crest BLP1E. Chetsford (talk) 23:28, 14 March 2019 (UTC)

The yacht

I placed a note on WP:AN, pertaining to Lori Loughlin, on the same content. In this case, I actually agree with my own edit summary. Thanks, Raymond Luxury Yacht (talk) 02:17, 15 March 2019 (UTC)

Drmies / Raymond Luxury Yacht - I agree, the yacht bit was sort-of rando and turns the article more into a tabloid than an encyclopedia entry. I'm fine seeing it gone. Chetsford (talk) 02:19, 15 March 2019 (UTC)
Raymond Luxury Yacht - FYI there's also an aggressive IP editor venting at Olivia Jade Giannulli. I suppose it's too soon for protection just yet but I'd warrant it might be necessary in a day or two. Chetsford (talk) 02:29, 15 March 2019 (UTC)
Thanks. I blocked: that "hatched" BS was reason enough. I blocked them from my alternate account so they'll never know it's me. Raymond Luxury Yacht (talk) 02:31, 15 March 2019 (UTC)

NPR Newsletter No.17

Hello Chetsford,

News
Discussions of interest
  • Two elements of CSD G6 have been split into their own criteria: R4 for redirects in the "File:" namespace with the same name as a file or redirect at Wikimedia Commons (Discussion), and G14 for disambiguation pages which disambiguate zero pages, or have "(disambiguation)" in the title but disambiguate a single page (Discussion).
  • {{db-blankdraft}} was merged into G13 (Discussion)
  • A discussion recently closed with no consensus on whether to create a subject-specific notability guideline for theatrical plays.
  • There is an ongoing discussion on a proposal to create subject-specific notability guidelines for chemicals and organism taxa.
Reminders
  • NPR is not a binary keep / delete process. In many cases a redirect may be appropriate. The deletion policy and its associated guideline clearly emphasise that not all unsuitable articles must be deleted. Redirects are not contentious. See a classic example of the templates to use. More templates are listed at the R template index. Reviewers who are not aware, do please take this into consideration before PROD, CSD, and especially AfD because not even all admins are aware of such policies, and many NAC do not have a full knowledge of them.
NPP Tools Report
  • Superlinks – allows you to check an article's history, logs, talk page, NPP flowchart (on unpatrolled pages) and more without navigating away from the article itself.
  • copyvio-check – automatically checks the copyvio percentage of new pages in the background and displays this info with a link to the report in the 'info' panel of the Page curation toolbar.
  • The NPP flowchart now has clickable hyperlinks.
