Information icon Hello, I'm Magnolia677. I wanted to let you know that some of your recent contributions to David Campbell (Australian political scientist) have been reverted or removed because they seem to be defamatory or libellous. Take a look at our welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 17:58, 16 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

At Yves Engler, you added defamatory comments, and the source you cited to support your edit never even mentioned him. Wikipedia has very strict policies about defaming living people. I'm cautioning you to stop this. Magnolia677 (talk) 18:16, 16 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Magnolia667, I apologize if it seemed Defamatory. I did not do any of these things to make a Person look bad. The Wikipedia Page on Genocide Denial said that he Denied the Bosnian Genocide, so I chose to give him that Category. As for Yves Engler, I am merely reporting what he thinks, he is a pretty Significant Figure in Canadian Political Discussion, and I had no Malice intended. Looking back, I realize that my Writing, even though I did not mean any harm, could be interpreted as libellous and disrespectful. It was somewhat biased. I am very sorry and deeply apologize for this. I will try to write more Neutrally and explain it more carefully. I would like to re-edit Yves Engler's Page to write what I had written in more Neutral Words that give context to what he says. Thank you for letting me know. I have no Negative Intentions and was unaware I violated NPOV and made Engler look bad. Please accept my apology.

On 24 October 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Saraya Awliya al-Dam, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Iraqi paramilitary Saraya Awliya al-Dam has a Telegram account? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Saraya Awliya al-Dam. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Saraya Awliya al-Dam), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Arab Israeli conflict

[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in the Arab–Israeli conflict. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Redirects to anchors

[edit]

Re your edit at Debrekerbe massacre (a redirect). The redirect is going to an anchor in the target article. Ordinarily, you see redirects going to articles (the top) or to an obvious section header within the target article. You might want to read more about the anchor technique at Template:Anchor.

If you would like to discuss why I chose that method (instead of going to a header), I am happy to discuss that with you. I'm cleaning up the 106 massacre articles (mostly spam) and I see you've jumped in to the project, too. Anyway, just dropping you a note. Platonk (talk) 17:53, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Varun Singh (Indian Air Force Officer) for deletion

[edit]
A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Varun Singh (Indian Air Force Officer) is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Varun Singh (Indian Air Force Officer) until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article.

DGG ( talk ) 04:59, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

no need to be concerned. everyone who even occasionally nominates articles for deletion is prepared for that sort of thing. But it tends not to help the argument. Around here , often the person who succeeds is the one who stays calm the longest. DGG ( talk ) 02:00, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
and you may not have realized that there is a degree of reluctance to make articles for individuals who survive a disaster. Often an extreme degree of reluctance, more than I think warranted. Wkiidata items, on the other hand, are made for almost all named persons connected with anything significant. DGG ( talk ) 02:02, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dunutubble, that revert is silly. There is NO WAY that this article is going to be deleted--any admin who looks at that article and its sources will tell you so (and I'm speaking as an admin who has closed hundreds of AfDs). That you'd do this and then go on to vote "keep" on the AfD makes it even stranger. I urge you to revert your edit: the article is at DYK and this is just slowing down the inevitable. Thank you. Information icon Hi Dunutubble! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of 1947 Jammu massacres several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:1947 Jammu massacres, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. Kautilya3 (talk) 12:38, 4 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

About the category of the Tong Chup massacre

[edit]

Hello Dunutubble, I noticed you re-categorized the Tong Chup massacre from "Chinese War Crimes" to "Massacres committed by the People's Republic of China". This article fits in both categories. I think the latter could be a sub-category of "Chinese War Crimes".

Also, the page about Chinese war crimes was deleted in 2007. This gives the false impression that there weren't any war crimes throughout the claimed 3000 year history of the various dynasties and regimes in China. So this page should be re-created and link to the existing related wiki articles. Please let me know what you think. -Artanisen (talk) 10:46, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. FDW777 (talk) 17:01, 19 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Terrorist incidents in Colombia in the 2020s indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself. Information icon Hello, I'm Jax 0677. I noticed that you recently removed all content from Talk:List_of_killings_by_law_enforcement_officers_in_the_United_States,_February_2022. Please do not do this. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. As a rule, if you discover a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If a page has been vandalised, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. Greetings. I fixed your close of this discussion. AfD discussion pages don't get the archive tag like talk page discussions--there's a specific procedure at WP:CLOSEAFD. Please follow this procedure for future closures. Also, personally, in your place I wouldn't have done the close myself after having been involved in the discussion unless I was the nominator, but the result was clear so no harm no foul. Thanks. --Finngall talk 17:03, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Albert Uderzo

[edit]

More is not necessarily better. The (Arts) version is there to get the best from the indiscriminate collection of authority control links for artists and arts-related articles like this one (and has country parameters to specify even further if wanted). This way, one can remove links like [2] or [3] (which doesn't even know that Uderzo is dead since 2020) which have no value at all for a French author on the English Wikipedia (but remain accessible, together with many, many more, at Wikidata for those people that need as many identifiers as possible). Are there any that are suppressed by the (arts) version but which you think should definitely be included any way? Fram (talk) 16:16, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Dujail massacre. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Barak Lufan

[edit]

Hi. There is no reliable sources about Barak Lufan's starts at the Olympics, as I believe reliable sources of this fact could be simply the full results of the event. Just someone called him Olympian after his death. Full results of the Canoe at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics are on Wikipedia (Canoeing at the 2012 Summer Olympics, Canoeing at the 2008 Summer Olympics). It's also easy to find it elsewhere (http://www.olympedia.org/). All results of Barak Lufan at the World senior events are here (https://www.the-sports.org/barak-lufan-canoeing-spf134628.html). And there is no single mention about any olympic starts. Another page: https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/victims-of-tel-aviv-terror-attack-two-residents-in-their-20s-1.10729398 (“It is a terrible morning, tragic,” the executive director of the Israel Olympic Committee, Gili Lustig, said Friday. He described Lufan as a skilled kayaker from the Jordan Valley who particularly excelled in the 200-meter race, which was not an Olympic event during the years Lufan competed. It's important to add, that 200-meter races were (!) olympic events in 2012). The article from 2008 https://www.jpost.com/Jerusalem-Report/Beijing-Challenge-Extract "Kolganov is Israel's only kayak competitor in a sport that in past recent games had a larger turnout". About 2012 https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/blogpost/post/olympics-2012-israel-taking-all-necessary-measures-to-protect-athletes/2012/07/24/gJQA5bRf6W_blog.html "With 37 Olympic athletes slated to compete in the London Games starting Friday, Israel is..." - and the list of 37 names is here: https://www.olympedia.org/countries/ISR/editions/54 . --Pbk (talk) 16:18, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of edit warring

[edit]

I would suggest starting a discussion on the talk page.
You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on 2022 Sweden riots. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;

Adakiko (talk) 18:48, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

re: uvalde suspect name/image

[edit]

most of your posts are supportive of my position, that facts should never be hidden, but then what is that one line "He may have lost his privacy, but that doesn't mean his family, friends, close ones, etc. lost theirs"???? that seems to be in direct OPPOSITION to everything else you've posted, implying his name/image should NOT be reported!

i had to double, triple check to believe it was really u posting that. what gives? 2601:19C:527F:A680:2177:A157:A3DE:7DA2 (talk) 16:06, 25 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I was referring to this quote:
most of us have no such sympathy and say go ahead and expose the bastard! he lost any right to privacy through his actions.
I don't have a problem with including a picture but I think that the approach that someone "lost their privacy" doesn't make sense. Dunutubble (talk) (Contributions) 16:08, 25 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
my poor attempt at irony. but your reply does come off as opposing everything your other posts advocate! as in, wiki SHOULD strive to be "morally righteous" on behalf of his family, friends, close ones. etc.

Autopatrolled granted

[edit]

Hi Dunutubble, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. However, you should consider adding relevant wikiproject talk-page templates, stub-tags and categories to new articles that you create if you aren't already in the habit of doing so, since your articles will no longer be systematically checked by other editors (User:Evad37/rater and User:SD0001/StubSorter.js are useful scripts which can help). ISWAP

[edit]

Hi, ISWAP is listed as a participant in Boko Haram insurgency. ISWAP is not a part of herder-farmer conflicts, so it makes no sense to put that in Owo attack. At best some civilians have accused herders of being complicit but not being the assailants themselves. And the authorities haven't blamed them.

Regardless I suggest changing the article name of Boko Haram insurgency to Jihadist or Islamist insurgency in Nigeria. 2402:8100:21C2:B0C5:0:0:74CB:D1A8 (talk) 15:18, 13 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Category:Ukrainian war crimes, a page you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. Hello, Dunutubble,
If an empty category is no longer empty during the 7 day holding period, do not worry....another editor will remove the tag. As the notice requests, please do not ever remove speedy deletion tags from pages that you have created. You don't have to worry about categories tagged CSD C1 that are no longer empty getting deleted during the holding period, several editors regularly patrol the Empty Category category. And, if a category is deleted after 7 days simply for being empty, it can always be restored should there be a need for it in the future. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 18:30, 2 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject: UAE (AFC)

[edit]

Hi there,

I noticed you are a part of the Wikiproject UAE, and I'm glad to see an experienced and active editor there! I just started editing UAE-focused article, and I am not sure if you have AFC privileges, but I have a draft AFC for the Ruler of Dubai that has been sitting for about 16 days, so if you could check it out for me, I'd really appreciate it. I want to edit a lot more pages but if they will be locked behind weeks or months of downtime, it'll be hard to be motivated.

Thanks a lot! ScholarofArabia (talk) 09:37, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
