Invitation to participate in study
[edit]Hello,
I am E. Whittaker, an intern working with the Scoring Team to create a labeled dataset, and potentially a tool, to help editors deal with incivility when they encounter it on talk pages. We are currently recruiting editors to be interviewed about their experiences with incivility on talk pages. Would you be interested in being interviewed? The interviews should take ~1 hour, and will be conducted over BlueJeans (which does allow interviews to be recorded). If, so, please reply to this message or email me at ewhit@umich.edu in order to schedule an interview. .

Reply-link tool
[edit]Hi, Ipigott has told me you want to use the user-friendly reply tool in order to make responding to conversations easier, so I've installed it on your page. Once installed, you will be able to see a "Reply" button against every thread in a discussion; click on that and you will be presented with a text window roughly similar to Facebook, Twitter and Whatsapp. Full instructions are on User:Enterprisey/reply-link. Event coordinator granted
[edit]After reviewing your request for the "eventcoordinator" permission, I have enabled the flag on your account. Keep in mind these things:
- The event coordinator right removes the limit on the maximum number of new accounts that can be created in a 24-hour period.
- The event coordinator right allows you to temporarily add the "confirmed" permission to newly created accounts. You should not grant this for more than 10 days.
- The event coordinator right is not a status symbol. If it remains unused, it is likely to be removed. Abuse of the event coordinator right will result in its removal by an administrator.
- Please note, if you were previously a member of the "account creator" group, your flag may have been converted to this new group.
If you no longer require the right, let me know, or ask any other administrator. Drop a note on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of the event coordinator right. Happy editing! stwalkerster (talk) 19:10, 23 October 2018 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Meetup/Madison/1000 Women in Religion 2019
[edit]Hi Colleen, Good job with the meetup page!!! I've renamed/moved the meetup page to: Wikipedia:Meetup/Madison/1000 Women in Religion 2019. I also added a photo of the monastery, and some categories. I added some wikilinks including changing the facilitator redlink from you real name (as there is no Wikipedia biography about you), to your Wikipedia username. I incorporated the external links into the prose. (Check out the edit history if you want to see step-by-step what I did.) Also, I added your event to the main Madison meetup page: Wikipedia:Meetup/Madison. After you add your wiki username to the Madison invite list (Wikipedia:Meetup/Madison/invite) (please ping me on-wiki once you've done this), I will send invites to those editors. (I couldn't figure out what's Rosalind's wiki username, which is why I haven't cc'ed her.) --Rosiestep (talk) 18:40, 25 April 2019 (UTC)

Laurel C. Schneider
[edit]Good, and valuable, bio, but since you have been writings everal of these, a few details of style might be helpful.
- Try to avoid specialist academic jargon, especially in the opening paragraph. I have no idea what "totalizing images of God " or "polydoxy" refers to (tho I can guess from context). Since we don't have articles on them, it's necessary to explain at first use. And since it's difficult to explain such concepts accurately in an opening paragraph, the specialization given in that paragraph is usually better written in general terms, with a fuller explanation later.
- when you give a series of degrees, list them inchronological or ascending order; when you give a series of positions, list them in chronological order and include the dates. (The person's full CV is usually clear on this, though it is sometimes difficult to find)
- Remember to link all special concepts where we have an article at their first use--even a reasonably commong word like Theologian, (but not "God" )
- And link all people mentioned who have articles, like Roland Faber
- For books, always give the ISBN. It's an essential linking point--it will link automatically.
- For books, try to cite book reviews--in the humanities, you`ll find many of them by searching under the person's name in WorldCat--they're at the end of the list. .
- try to avoid adjective of quality or praise , such as "innovative" except in a sourced direct quote from an authoritative 3rd party source.
May you write many more!. DGG ( talk ) 10:33, 10 May 2019 (UTC)
- DGG, Thank you for the tips. When I get a chance, I will get back to the article and make some of these edits. I'll try to attend some of the edit-a-thon in June. I'm afraid the earliest I can get there will be around 9:30, and depending on work deadlines I might have to skip it. I looked for a link to email you and it doesn't look like you have the preference for receiving emails turned on. Do you want to send me an email here: https://wiki.eso.workers.dev/wiki/Special:EmailUser/Clayoquot ? Then we can exchange contact details and talk about other ways to publicize your event if you like.
Also, will the edit-a-thon require any kind of conference registration, or can the public just walk in?

[edit]Hi Colleen- thanks for all your hard work on getting our list into wiki data. It looks good. I am happy to help with next steps but not sure what to do to be helpful. The next 2 months are quieter for me at work so could add names and upload to wiki data if trained. In meantime am working on my biography. PMCH2 (talk) 12:17, 5 June 2019 (UTC)

Wikipedia Teahouse, etc.
[edit]Hi Colleen,
Lovely to meet you at the edit-a-thon today! Here are a couple of links to places I mentioned:
- WP:Teahouse - this is where you can ask any question about how Wikipedia works.
- Help:Watchlist - this feature is indispensable for monitoring what's happening with articles that you're interested in.
- Wikipedia:Recent changes patrol
I'll write more later. Cheers, Clayoquot (talk | contribs) 05:10, 13 June 2019 (UTC)
Also, you might want to set up an Event Dashboard for your next event. This way, there won't be issues of people all trying to edit one section of a page at the same time when they describe the event outcomes. The dashboard will also automatically give you statistics. AAR/SBL Edit-a-thon
[edit]Hi Colleen - I put up the meet up page for AAR/SBL. Would you take a look and edit it if anything doesn't look right? I added some names to the workbench. I can add more next weekend. There are more former AAR presidents we could add to the list and lots of other scholars. I have to go looking for some more resources though. Still, its coming along! PMCH2 (talk) 03:30, 22 September 2019 (UTC)
- PMCH2, It looks great! In the description we need to put something in about how this is a workshop meant for training participants of the AAR/SBL Annual Meeting. I am wondering about a link to the AAR/SBL registration sight? Yes I think that is the first step. (1) add a link to the AAR/SBL registration page followed by (2) instructions for registering for our specific workshop. I think we should take off the bit about registering on the meetup page. Instead, we could add a sentence that goes something like "For questions about registration contact Dzingle1" or "For questions about registration, leave a message on the this meetup page's talk page". I am not sure what the protocol is on this. What do you think? The work list looks great. I will contact Elizabeth about how registration is going. Thanks Dzingle1 (talk) 18:33, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
- dzingle1 Ok I can make those edits this week. I think it makes sense to have folks contact us outside wikipedia assuming many are not yet editors. PMCH2 (talk) 23:33, 30 September 2019 (UTC)

- No, I won't be there. Since my retirement my days of travelling to meetings are over, thank goodness. While I was still at work I often had to go on four or five business trips a month - all over Europe and frequently to the United States or even Japan. In any case, I think I am far more useful just helping out on line. updated project page
[edit]Hi Colleen - I added a notice about the monthly edit a thon for our project on our project page and removed the two cancelled events. I also put your user name down as a person to contact if anyone wants to join the edit a thon. Hope that is ok! If not, let me know and I will edit it. Also, just fyi, I added a new page to Wikipedia and included it on our list of outcomes on the project page. I created a page for Elsa Támez, a Mexican feminist biblical scholar. She was on our red link list. So one down and 9999 to go. ;-> PMCH2 (talk) 15:04, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
- PMCH2, Thank Polly. The tasks are endless and I never seem to end. I just scheduled the ZOOM and am getting ready to set up the dashboard:). Dzingle1 (talk) 14:51, 30 May 2020 (UTC)

WiR 1000 women
[edit]I just thought you should know that I’m trying to get enough material to get the article Bessie Anstice Baker started. I’m recording my research here and I’m trying to get through her work A Modern Pilgrim’s Progress.
This is not easy, she was a true intellectual who not only examined Unitarianism, but Anglican systems such as the high, low and broad church factions. On top of this when she became disillusioned with religion (before finally converting to Catholicism in a major way) examined major philosophical figures from Hume to Kant (among others), was critical of major philosophical and scientific positions, had a take on Darwinism and participated in a variety of societies in London. Basically I’m getting a crash course in philosophical systems.
She always conferred the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice by the Pope. My hold up is that I’m waiting for a book I purchased months ago!
Anyway, thought you might be interested. - Aussie Article Writer (talk) 02:10, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
- Aussie Article Writer, I am interested. It looks like a very interesting research project and will be a great addition to Wikipedia and to the coverage of women we are seeking through the 1000 Women in Religion Wikipedia project. I see that you found our project page and have signed up as an editor. Thanks! Are you connected with the Australian 1000 Women in Religion branch of this project. They are a passionate dedicated group of people. Let me know if you need help connecting. Also, you are more than welcome to join us for our monthly meetings. We have an editing meetup the second Monday of most months and a organizational meeting the 4th Thursday of every month. Theresa A. Yugar moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Theresa A. Yugar, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Connecting? Thank you!
[edit]Hi Rosie suggested that I contact you. We have longed for years to start a women electronic literature writers wikipedia editing group. And I finally retired from my very stressful job last month, so now I have some spoons and some time to work on this and get our cats herded in the right direction. We know this will be a long term, multi year effort, and we would love some advice on what to do, what not to do, and so forth. I would love to connect with you and possibly ask for mentoring through this process? Thank you so much! LoveElectronicLiterature (talk) 16:51, 1 September 2022 (UTC)

Recent book in the Parliament series
[edit]I've just been looking through the online version of Women Advancing Knowledge Equity: The Parliament of the World’s Religions. As editor, you've succeeded in putting together yet another useful collection of biographies. The detailed information presented can now be used as one of the main sources for creating Wikipedia articles on all those covered. You will see that thanks to Figureskatingfan, this and your earlier books have been discussed on the Women in Red talk page where I have listed all the women covered in the series. It will be interesting to see how quickly the remaining red links can be turned to blue.--Ipigott (talk) 13:15, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks so much. It has been a joy to work on these volumes. And even a greater pleasure to see the chapters used as resources for Wikipedia articles. Mary (Polly) Hamlen passed away last week just before she received the book in hand. Getting this particular volume to publication has been bittersweet. If you know of good researchers and writers who might be interested in working on future contributions, let me know. Thank you for your kind words. Dzingle1 (talk) 14:13, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
- I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Polly. May she RIP. --Rosiestep (talk) 18:06, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you. I will pass on your condolences. I know it will mean a lot to her family. They have been so interested in her work on Wikipedia. Dzingle1 (talk) 19:29, 15 December 2023 (UTC)

- Polly made considerable efforts to support your enterprise. Not only was she one of the prime movers of 1000 Women in Religion, she contributed some 85 biographies] herself, the last in February 2023. I see she died just a couple of weeks ago on 3 December. I don't know whether there's anywhere on Wikipedia where we can express our appreciation for her contributions. Any ideas, Rosiestep?. Perhaps she could be included here.--Ipigott (talk) 17:49, 16 December 2023 (UTC)
- Colleen, Following the format from another deceased Wikipedian's userpage here and talkpage here, I added the same to Polly's userpage and talkpage. In professional deference to the fact that you and others knew Polly before she became a Wikipedian, I'll wait for you to start the condolences section and/or to add biographical info on her talkpage. I'll circle back later. Ipigott, yes; she should be added here. --Rosiestep (talk) 18:05, 16 December 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you both. I'll have Christine Meyer help me with this. Dzingle1 (talk) 06:06, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hi I added a first draft entry for Mary in Wikipedia:Deceased_Wikipedians/2023. More detailed statistics about her edits and other things under the "User" tab. I found this picture, not sure if that's Mary, if so it could be included. I didn't know Mary or her work, but came across it as I monitor usage of the
{{deceased}}
template which was added today to her user page, and felt inspired to say something. I cribbed some content from her author bio at the book site. You know her best so please make whatever changes or redo it entirely. Regards. -- GreenC 17:32, 17 December 2023 (UTC)- Yes that is a picture of Polly and I at Wikimania or something like that in Boston. I believe it was the fall of 2019. I am reaching out to her family for an obituary and will encourage others to contribute to this page. Thank you for starting it. Dzingle1 (talk) 21:06, 17 December 2023 (UTC)

- Rosiestep and User:GreenC, thanks for taking the lead on this. I've hesitated because the Deceased Wikipedians page states, "Please do not add people unless you can supply verifiable information that they died", in bold, so I was waiting until an obituary was published by Polly's family. I think we should get a picture of Polly alone, which I was going to ask her family to donate. I started a list of her contributions, which we can also add to her user page when everything else is in place. It's so devastating and a huge, huge loss. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 21:46, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
- Figureskatingfan, I totally agree with you and this statement ("Please do not add people unless you can supply verifiable information that they died"). For transparency, as I had found this, I thought it would be okay to proceed with adding the templates on Polly's userpage and talkpage. --Rosiestep (talk) 22:08, 17 December 2023 (UTC)

- When we had our monthly Women in Religion editing session on Monday, a recent recruit who was also a good friend of Polly's attended and let us know that she was working with the family to write an obituary. She knew that we wanted one to use for this purpose, so I think it should be coming soon.Engmaj (talk) 23:58, 17 December 2023 (UTC)

- What I like about the picture above is that Polly is editing. It was taken during the WikiConference North America 2019 in Boston. I have another pic that I tried unsuccessfully to copy and paste here (unsuccessfully). It was taken of her at the same conference — presenting but it is not as clear. I will post it to WikiCommons in the next couple days. However it is a bit blurry. In my opinion the current picture represents Polly as a Wikipedian better. Perhaps others have better pictures of Polly editing. Dzingle1 (talk) 22:15, 17 December 2023 (UTC)

Project page importance
[edit]Hi Colleen,
This is the first time I've started a discussion on your talk page! So anyway, at yesterday's planning session meeting, you mentioned something about changing the importance scale on our project page. Or at least that's what I thought you were talking about. If so, project pages don't receive an importance grade. If you were talking about changing an importance or quality grade on an article, any project member can change it; see Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Release Version Criteria#Priority of topic. If you were talking about changing the quality scale of an article, any project member can change it, as long as it's not A-class, GA, or FA; see Wikipedia:Content assessment. Hope this helps and that it answers your question.
To change the subject, you should really archive your talk page. It's so long! ;) Stay well! Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 16:42, 28 June 2024 (UTC)
- I didn't even know arching your talk page was a thing. We should talk about that at editing. Thanks Colleen Dzingle1 (talk) 19:02, 28 June 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, let's do that. Please remind me, though. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 05:22, 29 June 2024 (UTC)
