Name needs to match title, surely?

[edit]

[1] Doug Weller talk 12:25, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

His full name is Muhammad Ziauddin Yusuf, as cited lower down. He is known as Zia Yusuf. Plenty of other such articles. Edwardx (talk) 13:06, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Edwardx We often don't use the full name, see WP:COMMONNAME. I know what his full name is, and it's right that it should be in the article. But the first sentence must match the article title. Doug Weller talk 13:35, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. However, you should look at the actual examples given in WP:COMMONNAME. Sorry, but I have had to revert you again, in line with WP:COMMONNAME. Edwardx (talk) 14:18, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) I think the most relevant guideline would be Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Biography#First mention which supports Edward's changes. the wub "?!" 14:28, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

DYK for Florentina Holzinger

[edit]

On 24 November 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Florentina Holzinger, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that over the opening weekend of Florentina Holzinger's first opera, eighteen audience members required medical treatment for severe nausea? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Florentina Holzinger. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Florentina Holzinger), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Malcolm Offord

[edit]

@Edwardx - As far as I know, a life peerage is a noble title in the peerage of the United Kingdom. Please explain the reason for your edit!!??Gomach (talk) 15:57, 24 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, Gomach. You added Malcolm Offord to Category:Nobility from Inverclyde. Life peers may technically be part of the British nobility, but we do not usually include them in such categories. And if life peers, why not non-hereditary knighthoods? This sort of approach simply leads to category clutter, with no real benefit. Edwardx (talk) 16:29, 24 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Edwardx, and thanks for patrolling new pages!
