Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to post-1992 politics of the United States and closely related people, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

[edit]Hello, I'm Amigao. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Security deposit, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Amigao (talk) 14:36, 7 September 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry, I'm a little busy at the moment. I'll dig for sources when I have time, because I'm confident I can find sources for what I said, since I experienced them all myself. Perhaps you could help me if you have some time. Thanks! Félix An (talk) 15:08, 7 September 2024 (UTC)

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution
[edit] Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved content from Triumphal entry into Jerusalem into The Messiah's Donkey. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content (here or elsewhere), Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. -- Diannaa (talk) 13:12, 20 October 2024 (UTC)
- Whoops, sorry about that! I was about to do that, but I forgot to. I will do it now on the talk page. Félix An (talk) 02:21, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
Disputed non-free use rationale for File:I Love Beijing Tiananmen.ogg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:I Love Beijing Tiananmen.ogg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Ирука13 23:22, 6 November 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

December 2024
[edit]Since you have admitted to tampering with a children's service offered by emailSanta.com to generate profane content, I have indefinitely blocked you from editing that page. Your admission that you put up anti-Santa posters indicates that you have a deep conflict of interest of interest about this website and the Santa Claus topic area more broadly. This admission of yours shocks me, and consider this a stern warning that any further disruption will result in a sitewide block. Cullen328 (talk) 03:11, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- I'm very sorry for any inconvenience caused. My offline actions are separate from my actions on Wikipedia, and I strive to abide by NPOV on Wikipedia. I do not own or work for any businesses or organizations that support or oppose Santa Claus. I have submitted an unblock ticket. I apologize once again for the trouble caused. Félix An (talk) 04:09, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- Also, I would like to explain that I did not "tamper" with the service or violate any terms of service. I abided by all relevant regulations and will continue to strive to do so in the future. Félix An (talk) 04:12, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- I never said that you broke any terms of service. But your disgusting anti-Santa activism has spilled over to Wikipedia in an alarming way. Your conflict of interest is stark and clear. Cullen328 (talk) 06:06, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- However, my edits did not intend to WP:ADVOCATE for a particular point of view against Santa Claus and violate the rules regarding the prohibition of activism. My edits on the emailSanta.com article mainly follow the principles expressed in the essay WP:SANTA (originally started over a decade ago by a different editor, later touched-up by me), which cites policies such as WP:NOTCENSORED, WP:NPOV, and WP:FRINGE. Mentioning the computer-generated nature of the website while citing WP:RS sources complies with WP:NOTOPINION, as it is an objective fact cited in reliable sources, not a subjective opinion, that the website automatically generates responses for users. I'm sorry if you made you believe I was trying to advocate for a cause. I am simply trying my best to be a responsible Wikipedia editor and state only objective facts. Re: Santa and emailSanta.com
[edit]I know you've been having a conversation with Cullen, but I also wanted to add that you need to learn to WP:DROPTHESTICK and let other editors worry about this topic (in the broadest sense). I encourage you to focus your efforts on others areas of interest for at least a while. There are other people who can mop-up after Kringle if he violates policies, and I think after recent exchanges he is more aware of his behavior and of course, like you, he is banned from that article. Any attempts by either of you to get around that will very likely be quickly detected and promptly delt with. TiggerJay (talk) 06:39, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- OK, I'll probably edit some rail transport stuff or add pictures for the time being then when I feel like it. I think it's best to let the dust settle for a bit anyways. Sorry for any inconvenience caused. Félix An (talk) 06:41, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- That seems to be exactly what you’re not doing by editing WP:SANTA without consensus and simply trying to game the system against a target of yours? TiggerJay (talk) 16:11, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- That essay is one of my pet essays that nobody seemed to have picked up after its original author David Shankbone finished writing it. I'll put my proposed edits on the talk page and get some more opinions. But I'll leave that for January so editors can at least enjoy the Christmas season. (Merry Christmas, by the way!) Félix An (talk) 17:04, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- Actually NO, this is not one of YOUR essays. You do not OWN any article or essay, that is exclusively reserved for your userspace. Furthermore, your editing activity on Santa, further illustrated by statement of

is very disturbing, and is the sort of behavior that is discouraged in this behavior guideline, Wikipedia:Do not disrupt Wikipedia to illustrate a point. TiggerJay (talk) 00:40, 15 December 2024 (UTC)- I did not mean to make disruptive edits. I meant to make constructive edits. Félix An (talk) 04:00, 15 December 2024 (UTC)

Unblock request
[edit]Félix An (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
Hello, I was blocked from editing emailSanta.com after I stated on the talk page of User: Kringle Claus my response to his allegations. I did not intend to offend anyone. My only intention was to explain myself to the Cullen in the midst of Claus's allegations. I am very sorry if you saw my editing as disruptive. I did not intend to violate any rules such as WP:NPOV, and I do not have a conflict of interest with any Santa-related businesses or organizations. My off-wiki actions of putting posters are unrelated to the things I've wrote on Wikipedia, and I don't hold any grudges against Claus, but I was simply stopping him from violating proper practices on Wikipedia. I have no issues with him running his website. I will try not to cause these feuds again, and I didn't mean to disturb anybody. Sorry for any inconvenience caused. Note: I erroneously submitted this through UTRS, and I was requested to repost it here. Félix An (talk) 07:11, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
Decline reason:
I think Wikipedia would be best off if you had a topic ban on all things Santa-related. I certainly won't unblock you without such an agreement from you. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇 17:11, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
Félix An (talk) 07:11, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
OK, I guess it's time for me to move on from that article anyways, at least for the next 5 years. I'm confident other people will continue to remove the WP:COI and WP:YESPROMO on that article anyways, so I'll just consider the issue resolved. Merry Christmas! Félix An (talk) 04:44, 15 December 2024 (UTC)
Python script
[edit]Over on another talk page you shared about a python script. Can you please help me understand the nature of the python script that you wrote and what the purpose was? If I understand correctly you’re claiming you used a chatbot/LLM to generate text to feed through a python script to send html from post requests to the emailsanta website, is that correct? What sort of volume are you talking about here? And what was your specific purposes in doing so? TiggerJay (talk) 16:27, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- I was going to use it to make a Chistmas-themed Discord bot for my classmates' Discord server back when I was still in high school. You can still find the code on my GitHub. It's poorly-written (this was before I started my software engineering degree in university), but it at least sort of worked at the time. Félix An (talk) 17:01, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- If you want to learn more about me, you can feel free to check out my website (made for a first year project, hasn't been updated in ages) and my other social medias such as Instagram, Twitter/X and LinkedIn. Feel free to get to know me and my interests. Félix An (talk) 17:02, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- I was referring to this [1] which seems like it was about using it to submit emails to the emailSanta.com website, or am I Misreading this code? TiggerJay (talk) 00:49, 15 December 2024 (UTC)
- It does the same thing as sending a letter manually. If you know Python, feel free to view the code (although be warned, it is a product of my high school years and is a mess)! Félix An (talk) 04:42, 15 December 2024 (UTC)
- I guess what I'm getting at, reading between the lines, is that you used this to programmatically interact with another website, which enabled you to send multiple messages automatically through the use of a chatbot/LLM to generate the text to feed to the website form, correct? To what degree did you use this and did you run into any rate limiting issues? How fast could a regular html form keep up with a fast python script like this? TiggerJay (talk) 15:51, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- No, LLMs didn't even exist at the time. It just filled in the usual form on the website and got a response the usual way. I never ran into any rate limiting issues since it was just a toy in my high school friends' chat. Félix An (talk) 07:57, 18 December 2024 (UTC)

Regarding your removal of content from Talk:EmailSanta.com
[edit]While I read your edit summary it is not appropriate to remove something from an article talk page, especially after someone has responded to it. You do have options, which includes WP:STRIKE or place a further reply with your current feelings of regret. You may also consider other options presented at WP:REFACTOR, but blanking yours and others comments on a talk page is generally not permitted. TiggerJay (talk) 15:39, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
