Origin of language

[edit]

Please note that I have reverted your addition to Origin of language. The information you added appeared to be unsourced for the most part. The single weblink that was included at the end of the section was to a webpage with no visible degree of oversight (making it an unreliable source) and no references (making it impossible to verify the information). Thanks, WLU (talk) 15:03, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I've nominated Berlin Crisis of 1961, an article you worked on, for consideration to appear on the Main Page as part of Wikipedia:Did you know. You can see the hook for the article at Template talk:Did you know#Articles created/expanded on July 9, where you can improve it if you see fit. It would be great if there are more inline citations in the article, too. Please add some if you can, if you are interested in having this article of yours featured on MainPage. Ninilchik Russian item

[edit]

Very interesting....I posted your article/link on WikiProject Languages and also at Talk:Russian language as I think an article is called for, whether on your dialect in particular or on Alaskan Russian dialects in general. I'd also like to suggest you add some of the family/founding history to the Ninilchik, Alaska article...Skookum1 (talk) 16:51, 11 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't blank articles. If another article is required, write it. Until then, it should be redirected to something that does exist, not left empty as you have done twice. Doing this is regarded as vandalism. Please stop. Carlossuarez46 (talk) 17:34, 18 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

LOT Polish Airlines Flight 165 Hijacking

[edit]

LOT Polish Airlines Flight 165 Hijacking and Judgment in Berlin seem to be two articles on the same subject. What's the point of having separate articles? Michael Hardy (talk) 17:01, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Because they are two notable, separate entities (despite currently having mostly overlapping content). I've improved the hijacking article and nominated it at Template_talk:Did_you_know#LOT_Polish_Airlines_Flight_165_hijacking. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 17:56, 19 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Updated DYK query On July 26, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article LOT Polish Airlines Flight 165 hijacking, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

AfD nomination of London Cage

[edit]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is London Cage. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/London Cage. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:06, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

child discipline and corporal punishment

Copying within Wikipedia

Hi Olegwiki,

Please remember that when you copy text within Wikipedia, you should note the source article in the edit summary at the destination page. As well as helping other contributors track changes, this helps fulfil the attribution requirements of the GFDL and Creative Commons licenses. I don't want to template a regular, but please check out {{Uw-copying}} as soon as you can.

Hi!

In this edit it looks like you reverted the previous editor. I suspect your intent wasn't to do that, but was simply to clarify how İbrahim Bilgen died? Could I suggest (assuming, of course, that I'm correct!) that you restore the <blockquote>? My thinking is that reverts should be avoided, due to the 1RR restriction.

Cheers, TFOWRidle vapourings 13:55, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I wasn't very clear! Check the diff of your edit - as well as clarifying the cause of death you also changed the way a later section was quoted. It looks to me like an entirely good faith edit, and that the change in quotes was caused by editing while the previous editor changed the quotes. My concern is that it looks like you reverted the previous editor - I don't believe that to have been what you intended. TFOWRidle vapourings 14:01, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If that's still not clear, let me know and I'll fix it. TFOWRidle vapourings 14:01, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) Crown copyright applies for British government publications. Personally I prefer the US system: if the taxpayer paid for it, it belongs to the taxpayer. But copyright certainly does apply in this case since it's a British government publication. TFOWR 10:14, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Section headers

[edit]

Hi

Just to let you know capitals in the section header are used only in the first word unless the header includes a name.

For example "History of Kiev" would be ok, "History of the Economy of Kiev" would be wrong, "Ukraine and the Kievan Rus" would also be ok

For this reason I have changed the section header "Economy and Socail Structure" back to the correct form "Economy and social structure" Chaosdruid (talk) 19:14, 5 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Gbudwe has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. In your January 6, 2011 edit of History of modern Tunisia you note that various sections were being [deleted and] moved by you to "Tunisia". Here I refer to the History of modern Tunisia sections then named: "Society" (7 paragraphs); and, "Commerce and Economics" (two paragraphs), with its two subsections: "Economic diversity" (three paragraphs), and "Agriculture" (two paragraphs). When you edited the Demographics of Liberia article, you added a link to Congo, which is a disambiguation page rather than an article. If you know from the source material whether it's referring to the Republic of the Congo or the Democratic Republic of the Congo, could you please edit your link to point to the appropriate page? Most common usage referring to the country simply as "Congo" is about Republic of the Congo, not the DRC, but I didn't want to assume that in this case since you're probably more familiar with the topic. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Allan Wilson into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in edit summary at the page into which you've copied content. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to make a note in an edit summary at the source page as well. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. Dougweller (talk) 22:02, 13 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ziad Abu Ein requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from https://tools.wmflabs.org/copyvios/?lang=en&project=wikipedia&title=Ziad_Abu_Ein. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. --Mdann52talk to me! 18:01, 14 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. I recently read the addition you made to this article and initially thought to just move the graf to #Spanish Cvil War from #Cuba, thinking its logical home to be a better location than its chronological home. However, despite my intention stated in the first edit summary, after deleting the graf, I decided not to make the move. I left second edit summary with a dummy edit and a post on the article talk page explaining. I intend to work on the #Spanish Civil War this weekend.
