The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar
Thank you for showing me how to more elegantly edit maps and of course for keeping the maps current Ear-phone (talk) 23:24, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you have time

[edit]

Given the underrepresentation of some regions on Wikipedia, I came across this Professor[1] on Dimensions (database) - https://app.dimensions.ai/details/entities/publication/author/ur.01144632041.27 who I believe is notable.[2] Former President (2020-2022)[3] of COSECSA (background - https://doi.org/10.1016/j.surge.2021.11.003).

Here is an example page of a President - Norman Stanley Williams.

Thank you Sir.

Ear-phone (talk) 16:30, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I thought about this and I really am not sure what kind of page to make. I updated Norman Stanley's page atleast.
There are more than 50 presidents for COSECSA, it might be better as just a list rather than each person getting their own page. Sputink (talk) 20:41, 28 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Sir. I was a bit surprised by 50 presidents, so I looked up when COSESCSA was inaugurated. It was in 1999. Given that Presidents serve multi-year terms, it appears, at present, that there may not be more than a dozen COSECSA Presidents overall. Since COSECSA already conducts operations in 14 different nations, I think its President merits a separate article, even as a stub?

Fair enough, https://www.cosecsa.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/History-of-ASEA-and-COSECSA.pdf The list i was looking at included ASEA presidents as well going back to 1950.
I think I will start with a list page and then we can have red-links to the individual people. Sputink (talk) 23:27, 28 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The information in this booklet is interesting to read, especially the parts about regional integration and cooperation. I see, "1988-89 L F Levy". I incidentally contributed to the Laurence Levy page on Wikipedia this October. I haven't come across a definite list of previous COSECSA Presidents? ECSACOP

[edit]

Happy New Year @Sputink. Related to the above, I came across ECSACOP, so I created a stub. You're more knowledgeable about East Africa, so I thought you might know more. Ear-phone (talk) 14:34, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I will poke around. I havent had much time lately, but will do. Sputink (talk) 14:40, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Map - list of international trips

[edit]

Hello @Sputink. This map appears to be out of date https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:%D0%9A%D0%B0%D1%80%D1%82%D0%B0_%D0%BC%D0%B5%D0%B6%D0%B4%D1%83%D0%BD%D0%B0%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B4%D0%BD%D1%8B%D1%85_%D0%BF%D0%BE%D0%B5%D0%B7%D0%B4%D0%BE%D0%BA_%D0%9F%D1%80%D0%B5%D0%B7%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BD%D1%82%D0%B0_%D0%A3%D0%BA%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%B8%D0%BD%D1%8B_%D0%92._%D0%97%D0%B5%D0%BB%D0%B5%D0%BD%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%BE%D0%B3%D0%BE.png Ear-phone (talk) 13:38, 10 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This is done! Sputink (talk) 17:30, 10 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You're very quick @Sputink. Ear-phone (talk) 21:32, 10 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Sputink. I have just added the African Peace Initiative Mission and here. What do you think? Ear-phone (talk) 13:03, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I’ll check it out. It’s probably best to wait after the trip as there are much better sources, but so far so good! 2601:184:417F:1B70:5BD:246D:9522:9209 (talk) 13:11, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. :-) I'm not sure if it's you though due to I.P but it seems like you. Ear-phone (talk) 15:30, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Lets see how much content there is, but maybe its worth making a page for the African Peace Initiative Mission. I am skepical, but maybe we can just add it to the Russia Ukraine 2022 war page. Sputink (talk) 17:04, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Actually probably best to add it here https://wiki.eso.workers.dev/wiki/Peace_negotiations_in_the_Russian_invasion_of_Ukraine#June_2023 Sputink (talk) 17:11, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Great find @Sputink. Yes. I'm seeing a section under May 2023, however the Comoros (current AU Presidency isn't mentioned)? Ear-phone (talk) 18:14, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
On further reflection your proposal @Sputink for a separate African Peace Initiative Mission is apt given the historical importance? Ear-phone (talk) 11:17, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I do not feel there is enough tangible actions comming from the meeting that is really going to warrant its own page. Its probably best to write a paragph or two on the Peace page and put it in the notes ask poll if it should get its own page. I think there isnt much more content than 2 or so paragraphs. Sputink (talk) 14:47, 19 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok @Sputink. I've just updated List of international presidential trips made by Hakainde Hichilema. Ear-phone (talk) 22:01, 20 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I went through and made some edits. Few things to note,
  • We want to write in past tense. While you might be writing the prose while its happening, its going to be past tense pretty quickly. So it might just be worth waiting a day or two
  • Same thing here, we want to try and avoid using Twitter as a source. While its a pretty accurate, if you wait a day or two, you will find something good articles to link
  • Otherwise great work! Keep it up.
Sputink (talk) 15:30, 23 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your kind words @Sputink. Ear-phone (talk) 16:29, 23 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Russia–Africa_Summit_2023

[edit]

Hello @Sputink. I have seen this summit, Russia–Africa Summit 2023, and I created a stub. Ear-phone (talk) 21:47, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Cool! I just moved the old page to "2019" page, Russia–Africa Summit 2019. Can you add an infobox if you get a chance? Sputink (talk) 16:01, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you @Sputink. I have added an infobox. United States–Africa Leaders Summit, the first one remained as is i.e. it was not United States–Africa Leaders Summit 2014. The second one was United States–Africa Leaders Summit 2022. Perhaps if the same naming conventions are used 🤔. If you get a chance maybe you could expand the article, when the summit starts? Samia Suluhu Hassan

[edit]

Hello! I'm trying to get Samia Suluhu Hassan to good article status as part of the Women in Green project. I noticed the image that you're maintaining for all of the foreign trips that she's made. I think that's a helpful addition, but I was wondering if there was a specific source that you were using that could be added to the image's description. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 20:30, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly! Thank you very much, I appreciate it.
Which image are you referring to, the map? The Map is based on all the sourced material in the base of the article. Sputink (talk) 20:57, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have sent you a note about a page you started

Do these leagues really warrant their own page? It does not seem notable enough to warranty game by game results.
However, if you want, here is the schedule and results for this leauge. I follow this league domestically:
