On the MOS:JP talk page, a discussion has been started about including or not including romanizations for words of English origin, such as Fainaru Fantajī in Final Fantasy (ファイナルファンタジー, Fainaru Fantajī) (for the sake of simplicity, I called this case "words of English origin", more information on semantics here).
Over the course of a month, it has become apparent that both the parties proposing to include or not include those romanizations cannot be convinced by the arguments or guidelines brought up by the other side. Therefore, a compromise is trying to be found that will satisfy both parties. One suggestion on a compromise has been given already, but it has not found unanimous agreement, so additional compromises are encouraged to be suggested.
One universally accepted point was to bring more users from the affected projects in to help achieve consensus, and you were one of those selected in the process.

The posting system is a baseball player transfer system which operates between Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) and the United States' Major League Baseball (MLB). Despite the drafting of the United States – Japanese Player Contract Agreement in 1967 designed to regulate NPB players moving to MLB, problems arose in the late 1990s. Some NPB teams lost star players without compensation, an issue highlighted when NPB stars Hideo Nomo and Alfonso Soriano left to play in MLB after using loopholes to void their existing contracts. A further problem was that NPB players had very little negotiating power if their teams decided to deal them to MLB. In 1998, the Agreement was rewritten to address both problems and was dubbed the "posting system". Under this system, when an NPB player is "posted", MLB holds a four-day-long silent auction during which MLB teams can submit sealed bids in an attempt to win the exclusive rights to negotiate with the player. If the MLB team with the winning bid and the NPB player agree on contract terms before the 30-day period has expired, the NPB team receives the bid amount as a transfer fee, and the player is free to play in MLB. The only reason things should be broken is if a page uses those reviews. That they use them is no excuse to keep the status quo. There is a way to add a depracation, but I'm not sure how to do it. The bottom line though is that coding should be gone because this timeplate is suppose to only house reliable sources because its used on article [ages as a reliable review summary.

Good evening good sir. I have a favor to ask. I am in the midst of re-vamping the article hitting for the cycle, in part splitting out the list of MLB players to its own list in order to make an actual article on the cycle proper. I want this cycle article to include something of a world view instead of just MLB. I know that you are the resident NPB expert, and I have been trying to find information on NPB players to hit for the cycle. I just don't know where to find source info, and I figured you might know better than I. The most recent cycle I found was Julio Zuleta's on September 23, 2007. Are there any more recent, and are there sources? Would you mind just helping me out in finding some of that info (if you can)? Let me know on my talk page. I would love to make the NPB a FL, but unfortunately I'm a bit worried about the quality of the sources. Since the cycle is a fairly new idea for the NPB, they don't really have any official lists on their site. I'm confident all of my info in that article is accurate, but the source to back it up may not be up to snuff. Feel free to take a look though and tell me what you think. Star Wars: Episode I: Battle for Naboo is an arcade-styleaction game co-developed by Factor 5 and LucasArts. It is a spiritual sequel to the successful Star Wars: Rogue Squadron released two years earlier. Despite the similarities between the two games, the development team designed a new game engine for Battle for Naboo and included land- and water-based combat in addition to aerial combat. Tokyo is the most populated of Japan's 47 prefectures. In Tokyo, there are 47 buildings and structures that stand taller than 180 metres (591 ft). The tallest structure in the prefecture is Tokyo Sky Tree, a lattice tower that rises 634 metres (2,080 ft), which was completed in 2012. It also stands as the tallest structure in Japan, the tallest tower in the world and the 2nd-tallest freestanding structure in the world. The tallest building and third-tallest overall structure in Tokyo is the 248-metre-tall (814 ft) Midtown Tower, which was completed in 2007. The prefecture's second tallest building is the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, which rises 48 stories and 243 metres (797 ft) in height. Overall, of the 25 tallest buildings and structures in Japan, 17 are in Tokyo. Skyscrapers are a relatively recent phenomenon in Japan. Due to aesthetic and engineering concerns, Japan's Building Standard Law set an absolute height limit of 31 metres until 1963, when the limit was abolished in favor of a Floor Area Ratio limit.

Your reversion of my editing out the words "legume-like" in the description of the Cloud Gate sculpture is counterproductive. In this instance "legume" is not descriptive of a bean shape as you so earnestly desire. Legumes comprise one of the largest families of flowering plants, numbering some 400 genera and 10,000 species. Alfalfa, clover, peas, beans, lentils, soybeans, peanuts, wisteria vines and locust trees are among the family. To quote Wikipedia itself, "A legume (/ˈlɛɡjuːm/ or /ˌləˈɡjuːm/) is a plant in the family Fabaceae (or Leguminosae), or the fruit or seed of such a plant."
While a limited world view might associate legumes only with beans, this is patently not the case. Does "the bean" resemble anything other than a bean? It's called "the bean" because of its bean-like shape, if anything. But why "bean-like" shape? It's called the bean because of its shape. Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! I think we should change the head picture to the famous pic of Kevin spilling the pot of chili. It is what he is best known for and I think it will draw more attention to the page. Hi - a quick note in follow-up to the revert of edits to Hitting for the cycle, as I would like to re-edit in a manner that will be more acceptable. You had noted "removing non from lead, changing the definition of a hit single, removing inline refs" and I wanted to get brief clarification on those:
Did you perhaps mean NPB in lead? I'm concerned that the NPB info on the page is quite stale, so wanted to group it in one place and flag it as needing an update.
I had removed the quote of Rule 6.09(a), which is about the batter becoming a runner... should that be left in? I ask because I felt it was off-target; otherwise, I don't think my edit changed the definition of a single (or if it did, it wasn't intentional).
I'll be more careful about updating rather than remove inlines.

Hi there, I think you've played around with the NPB colouring. It has upset the templates because now text is white against white. Could you please fix this? I don't have the confidence to do it myself. This is mainly for the Template:Chunichi Dragons roster navbox and other Dragons related boxes I've created. This is vandalism of the legitimate page of the Portland Mavericks for an unknown individual's use as a promo to trade on the legitimate professional ball club's history to promote a fake adult amateur baseball league. It makes no difference whatsoever if an opportunistic party "copyrighted" the name Portland Mavericks. They may not tie their copyright to the players and staff of the actual Portland Mavericks who existed only from 1973-1977. This is misrepresentation of the facts, used for crass commercial purposes. For the record, the Portland Mavericks were a team owned By Bing & Kurt Russell. That team ceased to exist after the 1977 season. No individual can warrant or represent that a fictitious team (who exist on social media only) said to be based in Keizer, Oregon, has any connection to the actual Portland, Mavericks whose history of ownership and dissolution is well documented both in legitimate press sources as well as a documentary made by the Russell family seen at the Sundance Film Festival and on Netflix.

We do go by the WP:COMMONNAME. The logo may include corporate sponsor, sure, but so what? Reliable secondary sources overwhelmingly refer to the series as the "Japan Series" without mentioning the corporate advertiser: [3], [4], [5], [6]... you get the idea. I'm not opposed to putting a note about the corporate sponsor somewhere in the body, assuming there's a reliable secondary source, but there's no way it's WP:DUE for the lead, and certainly not for the first sentence. I looked but I did not find a news story detailing how much they paid for the sponsorship, or really, anything at all about the sponsorship, which really hurts the WP:DUE case. WP:COMMONNAME refers to article titles and has no bearing on what we are talking about. The article is titled by common name. And saying that a handful of words in an article violates WP:DUEA is pretty silly. The article is fairly long, a few words are obviously not undue weight. Simply mentioning the official title and corportate sponsor does not violate any policy. It is explaining to the reader what the official Japanese title of the event is, what SMBC is, and why it is included in the logo, all information that is relevant to the event. --TorsodogTalk19:23, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's not about undue weight in the article, it's about undue weight in the lead. It's a really long article, and there's one mention of the sponsor that you just added (by the way, check the URL - I got a "Page not found" error when I clicked on the reference URL). So it's fine that it's in the body, but to repeat the exact same minor thing in the lead makes little sense. If no secondary sources felt the need to explain "what the official Japanese title of the event is, what SMBC is, and why it is included in the logo", then we don't do that here either.
