Hi, sorry for the late answer. I'm very glad that we can cooperate on several projects here, but I think I should emphasise that this is really just something I do as a hobby, and hardly even that. I have a rather hectic life and although I feel honoured by your proposal and am sure you are a fine person, I have to be honest and say I prefer a degree of anonymity or personal disengagement here. Please don't feel upset about this, I'm sure we could have a lot of fun together, but I prefer to just edit articles when I'm active here. Saying NO isn't offensive. I am not the kind of guy who "hang around" with my Wikipedian friends, although I did shake hands with one of them last month right here in Prague. We talked about Ukraine, had a pizza, drank some wine and took pictures as well. Another one showed me her orange dress in a picture taken inside a beautiful cathedral while she sang one of Bach's cantatas. Another showed me he looks like Donald Pleasance, while another pointed me to her picture in her Wikimedia essay. Historic houses

Hi Yakikaki. You might be interested to see that WP:Architecture now has a task force on Historic houses. I have offered a preliminary list of red links for Denmark at Todo items for anyone. Maybe you would like to help in drawing up lists for Sweden or Estonia. We could also develop priorities based on the regions or even municipalities drawing on sv:Kategori:Slott i Sverige efter landskap and sv:Kategori:Herrgårdar i Sverige. Any assistance you can give with picking out those deserving priority treatment would be appreciated. Personally, I would tend to go first for those which are already at least start class in Danish, preferably with illustrations and possibly with links to articles in other languages. There is no rush on this but I certainly think it would be useful to improve coverage in Sweden as the project develops. And Estonia is up to you!--Ipigott (talk) 15:13, 15 June 2014 (UTC)

Hi Ipigott, thank you for the message. I'll be happy to contribute what I can! I'll go through the lists and also check some other sources, and try to make a similar red-linked list for Sweden and Estonia. My preliminary assessment is that when it comes to Sweden and Estonia, a lot of articles exist but are stubs or badly written and/or edited, so I may end up making a list of articles to improve instead. Concerned

Hello Yakikaki! I hope you have had a pleasant solstice it's a big holiday here in Sweden as I assume you know. Sorry to disturb you, but since you and Krenakarore seems to know each other even outside the Wikipedia, I just wonder if you have heard from him lately? Usually he's always around doing his gnome work, but he was very badly treated by another editor and I have not "seen" him since then and I'm starting to get a little worried. Some new pictures

Hello Yakikaki! Hope you have had a pleasant holiday. :) Mine got canceled due to too much to do at work, guess I have to wait until autumn for the next trip to the Gotland country side. Might be for the best since the churches without pictures all seems to be hard to photograph because of all the trees. Better to wait until the leaves are off. But I took a stroll in Visby a couple of days ago and managed to get some more pics of St Clemens an St Karin. Don't know if you are interested, I know you already have pics for these, but they can be found here or here. These two ruins are tricky! They are both in the busy area of Visby, surrounded by houses making access hard, exposed sides are facing north so best pics light-wise must be taken at 5:00 a.m. in spring (!) and not always open. Clemens houses a café in the summer and is closed in the winter. (The cat in pic 8 was friendly though. :) ) Karin is almost always closed to public (I had to poke my camera through the gate to get pics inside) since it is used for all kinds of events. During the winter it is used as a skating rink! (No, I'm not kidding, see here or here). Welcome back! w.carter-Talk 13:00, 17 August 2014 (UTC)

These ruins are really quite massive, much larger than I initially realised, and judging from your photos both impressive and somehow gentle, at the same time. Ryska kyrkan

Russian church, Visby.

Hello! It's just me again. I have been thinking about a pic of the Russian Church in Visby, that there might be something in an archive at the museum or something. I know that the father of one of my friends was present at the excavation of the church and that maybe there could be some pic from that. Unfortunately it seems like the museum has removed its photo collections from the Internet. :( But there are some that you could claim as "fair use" if you want to. There is the sketch here or the pic of the excavated foundation (including skeleton) here. I could also just drop by and take a pic of the building now residing on top of the ruins, like the pic of the "Ryska gården" at the Guteinfo-site. I noticed you have a similar take on the pic for the Solberga Abbey. Just let me know. :) At least I can provide you with a detail from the old Visby map. I cropped it and just uploaded it. It is most likely a depiction of the Russian Church in Visby. It matches the location and the sketched reconstructions of the church based on facts found at the excavation of the foundations 1971. Your idea to use one of the linked images is great, I didn't know you could claim fair use in this way, but then again I've always been bad at understanding the copyright rules - to me it's a big jungle. :) But I will study them more carefully, sounds like it might come in handy! For now though I think this excellent crop from the map should be sufficient, and for some reason I really like the image as such as well. I think this pic is actually nicer than the reconstruct sketch. It's in color and seems "friendly" in some way. Pity the map only covers Visby within the wall, otherwise we might have a similar one for Solberga Abbey. If I come across something I'll let you know. List of regional characteristics of Romanesque churches

Nearly all the information that you added to this article was useful but 'none of it conformed to the way in which the information was formatted.

• The lists of examples for England, France and Germany etc don't contain subsections for different regions. Information about regions is listed under the influences, not under the list of buildings.
• None of the examples of buildings have the name of their country in brackets.

A basic rule of successful editting is to look at the way that previous edits have been done, and if what you see is consistent (rather than a mess that needs tidying up) then follow through on what you see.

I forgot to mention that buildings are only listed if they have articles. If you write articles about some of the non-listed churches that are significant, then list them. But keep in mind that the numbers of significant churches are proportionally small in Scandinavia. In France, England and Italy there are literally hundreds of churches that are Romanesque or have significant Romanesque parts, but have been omitted, with only some of the most important making it to the list. It would be easy to create an imbalance by including almost every Romanesque building in Sweden and only a very small percent of the Romanesque churches of France. The list for the UK, for example, only includes two of the finest, least altered, parish churches, where in fact there are a very large number that retain significant Romanesque parts.

Hello Yaki! I have finished checking and double checking the flag at Svindersvik, and it is pretty much as we thought: Forbidden but used anyway. I have put the whole explanation in a note (with refs) at the pic on the Draft:Grill (family)#Origin page. Feel free to nick it all if you still want to use it in Svindersvik. :) I use Harvard refs, so the full ref for the second book is found at Bibliography section. Btw, have you ever used the LIBRIS catalogue? It is great for fixing the "cite book". If you know the name or author of the book, you enter it in the search box on any page. Like if I want all the facts for the ref for "Svenska ostindiska compagnierna 1731-1813", I enter that and end up here. I click on the most likely book and end up at this page. This page can be used as the url for the book in the ref. Then I click on the "Skapa referens" (middle of the page), scroll down and there is everything I need for the ref. Just copy and paste to the cite book. Very handy. No mistakes in spelling or ISBN-numbers. I use it all the time, especially if the title is long. :) Pity it's in Swedish and can't just be copied as a whole, but is some help anyway. Best, w.carter-Talk 21:06, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

Hello! Have a rest now from your exhausting week. :) I just post when it's convenient, and you read at your leisure. Libris is actually the catalogue for all books in Swedish libraries, so quite comprehensive. Aside from the spelling thing, I also use it to see if a book I want is available at my little library in Visby or if I have to order it from some other library. The ruins list

Hello! Hope you don't mind, but I went and added all the translations for titles, websites, language tags, etc. in the refs that I was asked to do on my GANs, I suspect it might be the same for FANs so... The reflist became a bit long because of this, so I made it into a {{reflist|30em}} instead. Hope it's ok, revert it otherwise. The reviewer also wanted some English sources, but since these are hard to come by they have to settle for som further reading in English. I added a new section for some that are relevant. Just to let you know: I used a cleanup script on the list, it is very effective in finding all the little formatting tings I tend to forget or overlook, but it always has to be checked afterwards since it sometimes, like here, can be a bit too automatic for some links. Yes, it is always best to do right away. So not 100% accurate, but it is really nice to not have to worry about all the spaces, /,-,etc. and other formatting mistakes that are sooo hard to find otherwise. w.carter-Talk 15:18, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

Yes, it seems very useful, as you point out. I wanted to ask you something about it, actually. You recommended it to me earlier, and I must admit that it seems very handy, but I'm still not quite sure how it works. I was thinking it would be a good thing to run all the church articles through such a script to find all those annoying little things. Scripts

No trouble at all. :) They are very easy to install and use. It is all done automatically. This script that I used now is a different one from the first one I talked about. The way you do it is that you create a new subpage called User:Yakikaki /common.js. You can see mine here: User:W.carter/common.js.

After that you just copy the code for the scripts you want to use and save. Refresh your page and the script is turned on. Let's start with the first script that turn links into different colors. Start your commons.js page and copy this code to it and save:

Gotland Churches

Hello! I saw that you are working on the list of churches on Gotland. You are certainly not afraid of work! :) That is one major undertaking. Very nice. Just wondering how "picky" you want to be with the list? There are some churches in and about Visby that I pass by almost every day and could take pics of if you want to, active churches that might not be the first thing you think of when talking about Gotlandic churches. I saw that you included the catholic church. There are even some that are not used as churches any more but were built like churches. Those that come to mind are: Terra Novakyrkan, Visborgskyrkan, Tjelvarkyrkan, Pingstkyrkan, this (don't know the name) and this that is now a theatre. Also Gnisvärd kapell and Koviks kapell. Thank you for your kind words, and the very kind proposal! :) I've been thinking a bit and I do think it makes sense to include all that there are; I spotted a few of the ones you mention on the church of Sweden webpage earlier and was planning to add them, too. So, yes please, if it's not too much trouble and you'd be happy to do it, I'd be very happy and grateful for pictures of Terra Novakyrkan, Tjelvarkyrkan and Pingstkyrkan, as well as the one which is unknown, if it's still operating. As for the theatre, I don't know, as all the other churches in the list are functioning in their capacity of churches, perhaps it's not necessary to include it? I have so far also excluded chapels, but I'm not dogmatic in any way about it. Still, it's a bit more work... ;) I don't know, I have to think a bit about the chapels. Perhaps it's a question of notability? Would you, who live there, include them in the list? OK, here's some food for thought I guess. In the meanwhile, have a nice Sunday evening! Hi! As with any topic here on Gotland there are always two lists when it comes to notability: One of the things that we who live here think is important, and one with the things that tourists finds interesting. To add to it there is the Visby vs the rest of the island, just as relevant today as in the 1300s. :-/ Such lists always have many commons items, but they are never the same. I think that a list on the WP should include both. The modern churches such as Tjelvar and Terra Nova are very important the community, but you will never find them in a tourist brochure. The chapels on the other hand are always mentioned among "the churches" in tourist stuff. They are being frequently used for weddings, christenings and other ceremonies and are situated in places where people spend their vacation so in many ways they are more notable than the ones listed with the Church of Sweden. I think the best way is to include all that are mentioned in one way or another on official websites. That would include all the ones mentioned here and here. Pngstkyrkan is not mentioned anywhere, since it is not part of the Church of Sweden, but since the catholic church is included, we might go with all versions of faith. Weather permitting it, I will take pictures the next time I am in the neighborhood of these buildings. Skip the one converted to a theatre, otherwise we would have a whole bunch of converted churches to deal with as well. I'll check if the unknown one is still in use. Right now I am spending a lot of time at my computer, but have to work on other things than the WP, so I still get the notifications if there is anything you want.
