User:Departure–

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Former alt of DontBanMeThanks, once GeorgeMemulous, and now Departure–. Sometimes I edit, and I try not to break the rules (if I do, feel free to tell me on my talk page). I'm a bit of a bold editor when I feel like it, and often help out at WP:ITNC and WP:Help desk, as well as miscellaneous anti-vandalism work.

I consider myself a moderately competent, if BOLD and occasionally much too hasty editor. I've had daily edits since some time around February 2024, and am proud of that, but my editing varies severely week-to-week - some weeks, up to 50 edits a day, and others only 40 in a whole week. That may drop off significantly if this one guy does this one thing he says he doesn't know anything about, but I hope to leave Wikipedia an overall richer place than it was when I arrived as my main objective. One day I'll stop editing and maybe I'll come back, maybe I won't.

My current signature: Departure– (talk) 04:35, 29 November 2024 (UTC)

Other: Nominated Hurricane Helene and the Fall of Damascus for ITN, as well as a few other things that ended up getting merged (2024 Israeli invasion of Lebanon, National Public Data breach, Water on Mars, etc.), made ITN hooks for Hurricane Milton and Valeriana (city), involved in the great Tornado records edit wars / revert festival of June 2024, often edit from an 800-way split anon-blocked IP, and over 2000 edits now.

Tropical storm Milton off the coast of Mexico on the afternoon of 5 October 2024

An image I uploaded of a new tropical storm in the Gulf on 5 October 2024 because the yearly list article lacked an image. In a year of records, it was beautiful to see nature acting in moderation.
